Supercell's Squad Busters is the latest mobile battle game from the developers behind popular titles like Clash of Clans and Brawl Stars, and challenges players to assemble the strongest team possible to collect the most gems in a match. Each unique character in the game, most of which have been pulled from previous titles by Supercell, has a unique skillset that can give players a distinct advantage in particular areas of a match.

While each character in Squad Busters offers something different that can change the composition of a team, players will find that some hold more value than others, or that some characters are best used in specific battle scenarios. With this in mind, this Squad Busters character tier list will outline which members of the game's roster are the cream of the crop and which are more limited in their uses.

S-Tier

What separates S-Tier characters in Squad Busters from the rest of the roster is that they not only offer plenty of competitive punch as individuals, but they are also excellent team members that will support the rest of the squad. Regardless of whether their skills favor attacking, defending, or being evasive, these personalities ultimately play a support role simultaneously, which can really help in picking up the victory in this competitive multiplayer game.

When it comes to attacking characters, the likes of Archer Queen and Barbarian King can truly shine if they have the right team composition behind them. The Archer Queen increases the attack speed of all ranged characters, while the Barbarian King will do the same for the melee characters. Rounding out the royal group, Royale King is one of the best defending characters in the game, with the added bonus that his attacking weaknesses are counteracted for by his supporting cast of royal subjects.

Max rounds out the S-Tier list for his ability to give the entire squad a significant speed boost, which is perfect for those who are being chased by other teams. Max will be a get-out-of-jail-free card and could be the difference between making it to the end of the match or being busted. The same goes for Hog Rider, but his speed boost is specific to grassed areas where you would generally be slowed down, with the added bonus that he packs a real punch as an offensive character.

A-Tier

The A-Tier characters in Squad Busters are solid additions to any squad and, when picked at the right time, can really turn the tide of a match in your favor, regardless of whether you're playing against your friends or not.

The likes of attacking characters Barbarian, Colt, and Bo, are all great additions to a team at any point in a match. Barbarian is your standard melee attacker with very reasonable damage and health, while Bo and Colt will be most effective from a distance. Where Bo favors damage from range, Colt will have a much more efficient attack speed, both of which are ideal for chasing down opposing players and going for the bust. These characters will be effective in numbers and as Fusions, especially when battling alongside Barbarian King or Archer Queen.

Witch and Nita are perfect support characters in that their abilities add numbers to the squad beyond themselves. Witch will spawn a number of skeletons to attract enemy attention, whereas Nita will appear alongside a large bear that acts as a defensive character and absorbs damage. Both of them are great additions to teams, as diverting attention will give your strong attacking characters the opportunity to do damage to others without getting any in return.

In a similar token to Nita, El Primo is one of the toughest characters to bring down in this fighting game, especially when in his Fusion form. This character shines in late-game scenarios by absorbing damage during heated combat exchanges, but will bolster the defense of your team at any time and can greatly delay potential busting situations long enough to round up more characters and launch a counter-attack.

B-Tier

The characters from Squad Busters in the B-Tier are by no means weak in their skillset, but players may find that they are more suited for certain match circumstances and not for some others.

The healing capabilities of Medic and Battle Healer are absolutely valuable in Squad Busters, but are overshadowed when the likes of Shelly can provide some healing abilities for teams. Not only this, but healing spells are often not too difficult to encounter during a battle. These two healers will definitely come in handy when health is becoming an issue, but given the short game times and how fast-paced the game is, many will likely opt for a character with defensive or offensive strengths first.

Goblin could arugably be in either of the top two tiers in the couple-friendly game Squad Busters on account of its fairly high attack, but many players will find that this character is best suited in the early stages of a match and will gradually lose favor to better attacking characters as the need arises for an offensive punch. Nonetheless, if Goblin is an option for the first character choice, players should opt for it, as the immediate reward of coins will mean multiple chests can be opened in the early stages of the game.

Some characters are best used in certain scenarios, such as Greg and his lumberjack skills, or Trader and his gem bonus. These characters are overshadowed by others on the roster that can perform more effective roles and have an edge in other areas of the competitive arena space. Greg is invaluable in that he is able to cut trees for gems and coins, which is particularly handy at the start of a match, but he'll gradually lose his value as players build a bigger squad and are able to get a steady flow of gold and gems in battle. The opposite could be said about Trader, who can be useful at any point in a match, but would likely be best utilized in the final stages of a match when the scores are close and players are looking for any way to grab as many last-minute gems as they can.

Finally, Chicken gives players additional Turbo from spawning and will be accompanied by hatchlings that periodically spawn in this popular mobile game. This is a great starting boost and can certainly come in handy when being chased or to get around the arena in a hurry. With that said, they don't pose a significant attacking threat, and will likely not be the best option when players are choosing their next team member.
