How Far Would Your Favorite Character Make It Through Squid Game?

It's hard to pick just one of my hundreds of favorite characters to consider in this scenario. Hitoshi Shinso from My Hero Academia would have the power of brainwashing on his side, which could be very strong not only in building allies with comrades but in controlling enemy players he goes up against, hindering their chances. If he could pull off his brainwashing abilities on the guards, he may even be able to manipulate the games in his favor through them, too. Because of this, I believe Shinso would make it quite far through the games, at least to the final stretch - but of course, he runs the risk of his powers failing, so it's a risky situation.

The new trailer shared on YouTube begins with Gi-hun looking tense upon waking up from an alarm. He opens the door and finds the Front Man (Lee Byung-hun) outside, telling him, "We are ready to start the game." Gi-hun finds himself in the same room with the other participants and as Player 456 again. This time, he is joining the challenge not for the money but for revenge as he seeks to end the deadly tournament. Creator Hwang Dong-hyuk confirmed Gi-hun is out for revenge in the second season. "Seong Gi-hun who vowed revenge at the end of Season 1 returns and joins the game again. Will he succeed in getting his revenge?" He told Deadline. However, it won't be an easy task because the Front Man won't be an easy opponent, and fans can expect a "fierce clash" between their worlds. Their story will continue in Season 3, which will be released in 2025.

The success of Squid Game made Dong-hyuk the first Asian to win an Emmy Award for Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series. The filmmaker admitted that the project was warmly embraced and it opened more opportunities for him. He was as excited as the others for the new season. "On the first day we began shooting Season 2, I remember thinking, 'Wow, I can't believe I'm back in the world of Squid Game.' It almost felt surreal. I wonder how it will feel for you to be back in Squid Game after three years as well," Dong-hyuk shared.

Many are excited about Squid Game Season 2 for several reasons, including the return of key characters like Gi-hun and the Front Man. The new season promises to explore their stories on a deeper level. Aside from Jung-jae and Byung-hun, Wi Ha-jun (Hwang Jun-ho) and Gong Yoo (the salesman who recruits participants for the game) will return to reprise their roles. New cast members will be joining Season 2, including Yim Si-wan, Kang Ha-neul, Park Gyu-young, Lee Jin-uk, Park Sung-hoon, Yang Dong-geun, Kang Ae-sim, Lee David, Choi Seung-hyun, Roh Jae-won, Jo Yu-ri, and Won Ji-an.

Also, there are several unanswered questions in the first season that fans hope to be cleared in the new season, including the background of the VIPs, the origin of the fatal game, and how they choose the challenges. Fans' commentary over the intense action, surprising twists, and emotional drama, as well as the various speculations about the upcoming season add more excitement to the anticipated Season 2. Fortunately, the wait won't be long, as the next season is only three months away.

Squid Game Season 2 premieres on December 26, 2024.

Which Game in Squid Game Is the Most Terrifying?

Definitely the glass bridge game. It would be absolutely terrifying not only to be forced to jump across glass panels at that height but to watch each person fall to their death one by one as the dreaded timer ticks down.
