Spoilers Ahead for Squid Game Season 3 and the Finale

7 Park Gyeong-Seok

The Luckiest Contestant In The History Of The Games

Park Gyeong-seok is alive at the end of Season 3 - Squid Game
  • First Appearance: Halloween Party (Season 2, Episode 2)

Park Gyeong-seok had one of the most sympathetic backstories in all of Season 2, seeing as he’s an artist working at an amusement park who decided to enter the games in order to earn enough money for his sick daughter’s medical treatment. However, he eventually voted in favor of finishing the games more than once and even joined Seong Gi-hun’s failed rebellion.

Fortunately for Gyeong-seok, however, Soldier 011 personally knew his sick daughter and decided to save his life so he could reunite with her once again. In Season 3, after many trials and tribulations, she finally succeeded in getting him off the island. This cemented Gyeong-seok as the luckiest contestant in Squid Game history, since he managed to come out of the games alive despite not being that edition's winner, and now he can live peacefully with his daughter (whose health has significantly improved).

6 Kang No-Eul

She Succeeded In Her Mission And Has A Bright Future Ahead Of Her

Kang no-eul fighting the other guards - Squid Game
  • First Appearance: Halloween Party (Season 2, Episode 2)

The Pink Soldier who saved Park Gyeong-seok’s life was none other than Kang No-eul, a North Korean defector who sadly had to leave her own daughter behind, so now she wanted to make sure that the contestant could go back to his own sick daughter. At the very end of Season 2 and the beginning of Season 3, she set her plan into motion by sparing Gyeong-seok and going against her superior’s orders while trying to escape the island alongside him.

After she secured Gyeong-seok’s safety, No-eul found out that her husband had died in North Korea, and that it was believed her daughter was dead as well. This prompted her to take her own life, until Seong Gi-Hun’s selfless sacrifice inspired her to keep on living, so she escaped the island before it blew up and went back to Seoul Land to check on Gyeong-seok and his daughter. Fortunately, No-eul discovered that her own daughter was alive and had been seen in China. She was last seen boarding a plane to reunite with her.

5 Choi Woo-Seok

The Unsung Hero Of Season 3

Choi woo-seok finds the captain's soldier mask - Squid Game
  • First Appearance: Bread and Lottery (Season 2, Episode 1)

Despite not being personally involved in the games, Choi Woo-seok was one of those characters who seemed like he was going to die before the end of the series. After all, he had encountered the Recruiter alongside Mr. Kim (and witnessed his best friend dying in front of him). He assisted Jun-ho in the search for the island and even repeatedly accused Park Yeong-gil of being suspicious, so he was definitely playing with fire.

Squid Game Season 3: Every Episode, Ranked

The final season of Squid Game is finally here. Here's how each of its episodes rank in comparison to each other.

At one point in Season 3, Woo-seok broke and entered into the sea captain’s house and found evidence that he worked with the games’ organizers. While the police eventually apprehended him, he was able to warn Jun-ho at the very last minute, which allowed him to defend himself from Yeong-gil’s attack. The police officer would never have been able to find the island if it wasn’t Choi Woo-seok, even though the former loan shark was eventually imprisoned for six months because of his crimes.

4 Hwang Jun-Ho

The Detective Finally Returned To The Mysterious Island

Hwang Jun-ho finds the baby in his house - Squid Game
  • First Appearance: Hell (Season 1, Episode 2)

Police detective Hwang Jun-ho spent all of seasons 2 and 3 with one clear goal in mind: to find the mysterious island on which the games were taking place and finally stop his brother, In-ho, in the process. With the help of many people, including Woo-seok, he was eventually able to do so, but the Front Man evacuated the entire island and kickstarted a countdown for a bomb that was going to destroy the entire place just before his younger brother arrived.

The two brothers finally met once again, but since In-ho was carrying the baby who had just won the games and the island was about to blow up, Jun-ho was forced to escape before saying or doing anything to In-ho. Six months later, the detective found the nameless baby in his own house, alongside a debit card with all the money she had won. Since he made it out alive of the entire ordeal, it’s most likely that Jun-ho will appear in a future Squid Game sequel or spin-off, still trying to find his brother and put an end to the games once and for all.

3 Hwang In-Ho

He Got To Finish What He Started

Hwang In-ho watching the games - Squid Game
  • First Appearance: Red Light, Green Light (Season 1, Episode 1)

The main antagonist of the show is none other than Hwang In-ho, the Front Man of the games and Oh Il-nam’s successor. He spent most of seasons 2 and 3 trying to break Seong Gi-hun’s spirits and prove that humanity is worthless, while simultaneously entertaining his VIP guests. In the sixth and final event, Sky Squid Game, Gi-hun proved him wrong by sacrificing himself for the newborn baby, and this selfless act seemed to have some sort of impact on the Front Man.

Without saying a single word, In-ho carried the baby to safety, exchanged a quick look with his younger brother, Jun-ho, and escaped the island seconds before the explosion. In the following months, he left the baby at Jun-ho’s house (alongside her prize) and even took care of gathering Gi-hun’s money and giving it to his daughter, who was living in the USA, which seems to be a sign of respect for the late protagonist. However, at the very end of the season, he exchanged a devious look with an American recruiter, suggesting that the games are now taking place in the USA and that In-ho will most likely reappear in future Squid Game projects.

2 Kim Jun-Hee's Baby

The Unexpected Winner Of The 2024 Games

The baby wins the 2024 games after Gi-hun sacrifices himself - Squid Game
  • First Appearance: The Starry Night (Season 3, Episode 2)

When Kim Jun-hee, a pregnant young woman, was introduced in Season 2, many fans predicted that her baby would be born while she was still in the games. That’s exactly what happened at the very beginning of Season 3, since Kim Jun-hee finally gave birth to her daughter during Hide and Seek. This moment inadvertently sealed her fate and the fates of her closest allies, including Jang Geum-ja and Seong Gi-hun.

Squid Game: 6 Characters Who Left Loved Ones Behind

Whether it's through death in the games or through fleeing their country, these Squid Game characters left loved ones behind without a trace.

During the rest of Season 3, they all tried their hardest to ensure the safety of the newborn baby, to the point that Jun-hee asked the protagonist to take care of her before dying. After killing the baby’s biological father (Lee Myung-gi) during the final game, Gi-hun realized that only one of them could come out of it alive, so he took his own life to ensure she could win. This shocking event made her the youngest winner in the games’ history, and In-ho made sure that she got out alive with all of her prize money. Kim Jun-Hee's baby was last seen in Jun-ho’s house, although it was left ambiguous whether the detective adopted her or gave her to someone else.

1 The VIPs

The Most Despicable Characters In The Show Are Somehow Still Alive

The VIPs share a toast with the Front Man - Squid Game
  • First Appearance: VIPS (Season 1, Episode 7)

There’s no denying that the VIPs are the most despicable antagonists in Squid Game, since all the other villainous characters—like In-ho or Il-nam—at least try to explain why they do what they do. In contrast, this bunch of millionaires and billionaires are cartoonishly evil and have absolutely zero respect for the lives of the contestants. They quickly became some of the most despised characters of Season 1, and they return in Season 3 (even though the lineup of VIPs changed, they were just as inhumane as the others).

Because of this, most fans were really hoping to see them get their long-awaited comeuppance and die before the conclusion of the story. Unfortunately for them, the VIPs were able to escape the island just after the baby won the 2024 games and right before In-ho began the countdown. This was admittedly disappointing, but it also implied that the VIPs will appear in future Squid Game sequels or spin-offs, where they will hopefully get the comeuppance they deserve.
