This post contains SPOILERS for Squid Game Season 3.
Summary
- Red Light, Green Light will return in Season 3 of Squid Game with a twist involving a Jump Rope game.
- The Gumball Machine game will divide contestants into Red and Blue teams for a deadly challenge.
- The final game in Season 3 may involve a deadly version of the Squid Game from Season 1.
Squid Game Season 3 will conclude Seong Gi-hun's rigorous journey, and fans are eager to see if their beloved protagonist will survive the entire ordeal. Gi-hun re-entered the games on his own accord, thinking he knew everything about how games are orchestrated. In fact, he tried to save every player by making them aware of what game might enter the play next. Unfortunately, though, the game has evolved, and with that, the nature of the games has changed as well.
The second season of Squid Game featured a series of new games that we didn't see in Season 1, except for the Red Light, Green Light, of course. This change made Season 2 a lot less predictable, and now, fans wonder what games the creators have planned for Season 3. Obviously, it's tough to figure out each and every game before the season's official release. Fortunately, the brand-new trailer for Season 3 hints at a few games that we will see in the upcoming season.
Squid Game Season 3 Trailer Answers One Of The Biggest Questions After Season 2’s Cliffhanger Ending
Squid Game fans have finally received an answer to one of the burning questions they had after watching Season 2.
Red Light, Green Light Will Return With A Twist
The second season of Squid Game may have changed most of the games, but one thing remained the same: Red Light, Green Light. Once again, the deadly game commenced with Young-hee detecting the players who moved when there was a Red Light. It's a fan-favorite game, and the Young-hee doll has sort of become a mascot for the show. So, it's understandable why the creators want to bring the doll back in Season 3.
But this time, Red Light, Green Light will be back with a twist. In the official trailer, we can see the players arriving in a room where the Young-hee doll is standing tall, but the players appear terrified of something that's in front of Young-hee. While the trailer doesn't exactly show what's on the other side of the room, it's clearly the male doll Cheol-su, which, interestingly, was teased in the post-credits scene of Squid Game Season 2.
Audiences all know the rules of Red Light, Green Light, but the appearance of two dolls in the same room suggests that this time the game will be different. Of course, there's still Red Light and Green Light, but as showcased in the trailer, the dolls will be a part of the Jump Rope game. Maybe the dolls will start moving the ropes on Green Light, and players will have to jump while making sure they don't fall off the platform. Maybe they'll have to move forward to reach the other end. Of course, when there's a Red Light, players will have to stay still, or else they will be shot.
The Gumball Machine Game Will Divide The Contestants
This may be the second game to be featured in Season 3 of Squid Game. This will require players to stand in front of a giant Gumball Machine, which will dispense Red and Blue balls, ultimately dividing players into two teams. One team, possibly Red, will get knives, and the Blue team will get a bunch of keys.
When the timer starts, the Red team will need to kill the players in the Blue team with knives. Players with keys, on the other hand, will need to unlock a safety door or an exit of some sort after finding the right key. When the timer stops, the team that doesn't complete its objective will lose the round and, of course, their lives. There could be more than one round in the Gumball Machine game, and if that's the case, players will switch sides after a while.
In the trailer, viewers can see a maze sequence, which will likely be a part of the Gumball Machine game. We can see the Blue team players begging to get out of the rooms, with the Red team players hunting them down. The Gumball Machine game will be heartbreaking for many reasons, but the element that will break fans emotionally is that even players who don't want to kill will be forced to pick up weapons.
Squid Game — The Game To End It All
The Red Light, Green Light, and Gumball Machine games will possibly take most of the contestants out. And as suggested by Season 3's backroom footage, the remaining survivors will have a feast on a big dinner table before they are forced to play the final game. While there's no confirmation about what the final game will be, honestly, the Squid Game finale would be incomplete without the "Squid Game" itself, the final game we saw in Season 1. In this game, the attackers have to enter the Squid Game court and touch the Squid's head with their feet. The defenders, meanwhile, will have to push the attackers out of the court before they touch the head.
Squid Game Season 3: 8 Characters Who Are The Most Likely To Die
It's distinctly possible that several Squid Game characters won't live to see the Season 3 credits roll, but some are more likely to die than others.
This could very well be the final game of Season 3, but it will be more deadly than what we have seen in Season 1. In the official trailers, viewers see a glimpse of an elevator, so there's a chance that the court of the Squid Game will be at a certain height. If that's the case, the defenders won't only push the attackers out of the court, they will also push them off the edge.
Of course, the final game is an assumption, and there's no confirmation from the creators whatsoever. Regardless, the third season is only a few days away from its official release on Netflix, so we will get our answers soon.
Squid Game Season 3 is scheduled to release on Netflix on June 27.
