Wi Ha-joon Talked About Squid Game Season 3 And I Can't Wait

Hwang Jun-ho (Wi Ha-joon) is one of the most compelling characters on Netflix's Squid Game. I was just as stunned as others to find out that his brother is the Front Man, and I've enjoyed seeing how his storyline has unfolded.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, Wi Ha-joon talked about the role Hwang Jun-ho will play in Squid Game season 3. He shared that there's a plan in place and said:

"I do understand from the audience's point of view, it might have been frustrating and it looked like I was just going in circles. But for me -- since I had the whole narrative in mind already -- it wasn't so difficult. In season three, my purpose and my arc will be fully unraveled, so please stay tuned!"

Wi Ha-joon also talked about the possibility of brothers Hwang In-ho/the Front Man and Hwang Jun-ho seeing each other again. He added:

"If there was to be such a reunion, then Hwang Jun-ho would surely go through a lot of indescribable emotions such as sadness, anger and also happiness."

Squid Game season 2 has new games and makes it even clearer that there are no easy answers in this dark world, and I hope the third season raises the stakes even more. I can't wait to see Jun-ho again in Squid Game season 3, particularly since there are so many questions about the evil nature of the Front Man. It's fascinating to watch a character who knows that their sibling has caused so many other people harm. I want to know what Jun-ho really thinks about this and how he can come to terms with this harsh reality.

I also agree with some fans that after Jun-ho survived being shot by the Front Man in the Squid Game season 1 finale, I wanted to see more from this character. When Squid Game season 2 begins, viewers are brought back into this terrifying and gruesome setting. But fans don't get to see enough of Jun-ho. I want Jun-ho to be front and center in Squid Game season 3 and after hearing Wi Ha-joon say that his character's arc will be fully explored in the final season, I'm confident fans will get the answers they want.

Finally, since Ha-joon said Jun-ho's "purpose" and "arc" will be explained in Squid Game season 3, I have to wonder if Jun-ho secretly knew about his brother or if he has been working with the Front Man all along. There's definitely more to this story, and I wouldn't be surprised if Jun-ho shares some big secrets. While fans are curious if the next season could share where the games came from, I'm also anticipating Jun-ho will become even more significant before the show officially ends. It might be hard to beat the big reveal that Jun-ho's own brother is in charge, but I'm sure Squid Game still has some huge surprises for fans.

While some Netflix shows, such as Stranger Things and Wednesday, have long gaps between seasons, that hasn't been the case with this one. Squid Game season 1 premiered on September 17th, 2021 and Squid Game season 2 became available on December 26th, 2024. When comparing both seasons, some fans think Squid Game season 2 was better than the previous episodes. However, viewers can also argue that Squid Game season 1 was the greatest. No matter what fans think, they're definitely looking forward to the third and final season of the hit Netflix series.
