While exploring The Zone, players will encounter various NPCs that will eventually lead to a minor quest to a full-fledged side mission like For Science! In Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl. The aforementioned mission involves Skif meeting up with Yaryk Mongoose, who'll task players to activate a second measuring device atop a Silo. It's a relatively short quest but will reward players with a Malachite pass to help them enter and use the facilities of the STC Malachite.

How to Start "For Science!" Side Quest in Stalker 2
Players can start the For Science! Side quest in Stalker 2 by meeting up with Yaryk Mongoose inside the Central Elevator location in the Chemical Plant region. Once players get close to the location, they'll hear Mongoose call Skif on the radio, asking him to head up the building to meet him.
As soon as you enter the Central Elevator location, head left past the conveyor belts and up the rusted stairs. Mongoose is on the first floor, so you can just vault the railing and enter the room to talk to him.
Yaryk Mongoose has a measuring device near him and will explain that there's another device atop a silo. Since both devices need to be activated simultaneously, Skif will need to activate the other one. Accepting his request will start the "For Science!" Side mission in Stalker 2.
If you took the "lethal route" in the choice towards the end of the "In the Name of Science" quest, Yaryk Mongoose will be hostile towards you, preventing you from taking on the mission.
Reaching the Top of the Silo During "For Science!" Side Quest
Once the conversation ends, exit the room and head up the stairs to the top of the building. Here, you'll encounter a pack of rodents heading your way. Simply eliminate them and enter a room with broken windows on both sides. Climb out of any of the windows and take the ladder down on the walkway outside.
From here, you'll jump onto the connecting walkway onto the Silos. Make sure to equip your bolt as you'll encounter electro anomalies on your way to the second measuring device. Keep heading left atop the silo to reach and activate the measuring device.
Once the device is activated, you'll hear a pack of Bloodsuckers rushing into the compound. You can either eliminate all the Bloodsuckers here or simply evade them to reach Yaryk Mongoose to confront him about this dangerous development.
Confront Yaryk Mongoose About the Bloodsucker Pack
Once you approach Mongoose, he'll request Skif to hear out about the unintended result of the experiment. Players have a choice to either kill Mongoose for putting Skif's life in danger or just take the reward and leave. There aren't any consequences of the choice, so you're free to take whichever path suits you. If you take Mongoose down, you'll be able to loot the Malachite pass from his body.
However, it's recommended that you hear Mongoose out and choose the "non-hostile" option. This way, you'll receive the Malachite Pass and some coupons for your troubles. Now you're free to enter the STC Malachite base using the pass from Mongoose unless you already have access to the base through one of the main missions.
