STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl will support mods on all available platforms, the highly anticipated FPS' developer, GSC Game World, has confirmed. The Unreal Engine 5-powered STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl is set to finally release on the PC and Xbox Series X/S on November 20 following multiple delays.
GSC Game World Lead Producer Slava Lukyanenka said in August that the STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl team would strive to bring mod support to the shooter's console and PC versions. Another high-ranking figure from the company has now revealed some developments regarding this feature that has become such an important aspect of the original STALKER titles, which are widely considered to be among the best post-apocalyptic games of all time.
War Game: The Making of STALKER 2 Is Required Viewing for Fans and Newcomers Alike
Developer GSC Game World has just released a full-length documentary titled War Game: The Making of STALKER 2, and it's required viewing for everyone.
In a recently published interview with Radio Times Gaming that took place during an event at GSC Game World's Prague office, STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl Technical Producer Evgeniy Kulik confirmed that the title will support mods on PC and Xbox systems. The studio is currently building a toolkit that will provide fans with basically all the necessary instruments to create mods - from small ones to massive total conversion projects – for the shooter, he added. According to Kulik, some of his colleagues were mod makers for the first three STALKER games that still have very active modding communities despite their old age.
STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl Supports Mods on Consoles
A feature that may not make it to the console build of STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl, specifically the one for the Xbox Series S, may be a high framerate option. Digital Foundry’s John Linneman previously reported that the demo for the title that was available to play at this year's Gamescom used a 60 FPS profile. However, GSC Game World recently said that the upcoming title struggled to maintain this kind of performance when running on the Xbox Series S. However, the studio thinks it can still make STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl run at a consistent 60 FPS on Microsoft's weaker offering for the current generation of consoles.
STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl will have a day-one launch on Xbox Game Pass. In addition to GSC Game World's highly anticipated shooter, several titles will come to the subscription service in November, including Blizzard Entertainment's critically acclaimed StarCraft 2, the next installment in the Microsoft Flight Simulator series, and indie platformer Nine Sols from Red Candle Games.
