Side quests are one of the player's best sources of income in Stalker 2, and luckily, there are plenty of these missions all over the map. In the Mysterious Case job, players are tasked with finding an ominous briefcase for Sultan, one of the big Bandit leaders in the Zone.

While taking on a request from a Bandit boss might sound like a bad idea, it's still a quick and easy way to get money in Stalker 2. The stakes are fairly low, and if you're struggling with supplies, ammo, or repair costs, then doing this side quest might just be what you need to do.

Where to Find Sultan's Briefcase

The case is in the Lviv area on the eastern edge of the Zaton region. Specifically, it's inside the big cargo ship by the docks. The path from the port leading to the ship is a maze of cargo containers and Whirligig anomalies, and players might encounter some mutant dogs on the way as well.

As you approach the pier, try to clear it of any potential enemies first. Then, bring out your trusty bolts and start throwing them at the anomalies. Wait for the vortexes to subside, then sprint past them after they die down. At the end of the pier is a storage container that you can use as a bridge to get aboard the cargo ship.

Once you're on the ship, climb up the ladders to the roof of the research bunker, then follow the quest marker to the hatch leading to the bunker's interior. Climb down, and in the room directly next to you, you'll find Sultan's Briefcase on a corner table. Grab it and search the rest of the bunker for loose items, then head back outside through the bunker's front door, which is opened via a button.

Should You Hand Over or Keep the Briefcase?

After opening the bunker door, you'll be greeted by a Stalker named Ensign along with his buddies. He'll demand that you hand the briefcase to them, giving you a choice of whether to surrender the case or keep it.

If you keep the briefcase, Ensign and his men will attack. They aren't that difficult to beat, the risk of death is still very real. Retreat back into the bunker, and toss some grenades if you have any. Otherwise, just peek and shoot from the doorway and mind any grenades that might come your way. Killing Ensign won't reward you with anything, but you'll at least get to loot their bodies for items to use or sell.

If you hand over the briefcase, unfortunately, nothing much changes. Ensign will accuse you of tricking them after they open the case, and a fight will break out nonetheless. After retrieving the case, head back to Sultan to get your reward. You should get a few thousand Coupons for your trouble, along with any of the loot you might have plundered from the ship. Make sure to speak with the bartender in Sultansk afterward for a follow-up quest.

After fighting the Stalkers, make sure to check the helm of the ship on the opposite side. There's a Stalker Stash there with a free suit of armor that you can use or sell.
