GSC Game World continues to release brand-new updates for its hit first-person shooter survival horror game, STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl. The latest patch comes just in time for the holiday weekend, making numerous improvements to STALKER 2 just one day after the popular title receive its biggest update to date.

On December 19, publisher and developer GSC Game World released a massive STALKER 2 update that included well over 1,800 bug fixes, changes, and quality-of-life improvements. Various fixes were made in patch 1.1, including adjustments to NPC spawns, AI improvements, balance tweaks, optimization enhancements, and so much more. The studio then went on to release yet another patch on the very same day, with update 1.1.1 rectifying a few issues that were causing users on PC to crash when starting up the game post update 1.1.

Following these two updates, GSC Game World has released yet another patch update for STALKER 2. According to the official patch notes, which can be viewed further down this article, update 1.1.2 addresses some of the most recent issues with the game reported by the community. Some users were reporting that the shader compilation was getting stuck, leading to an infinite wait time or crash. Thankfully, this issue has now been fixed, as well as issues that were causing some to crash upon exiting the game and for others who were unable to load their save files.

Also included in the latest update is a massive new feature for STALKER 2 players that allows users to back up their save files and prevent the loss of data. In the official patch notes, GSC Game World says that save files will be stored automatically and last for 4 days before being deleted. Unfortunately, it looks like this new feature is only available on PC, with no word on whether or not Xbox Series X/S owners can look forward to save back-ups in the future.

All of these massive updates and improvements over the last few days will be sure to please fans, especially considering STALKER 2 had a myriad of launch issues with a variety of bugs and glitches. Although multiple patches have been required to get the game to a better state, that doesn't seem to have stopped STALKER 2 from being a massive success for GSC Game World. The highly-anticipated sequel has already turned a profit for the studio, just one month after its release. GSC Game World previously announced that STALKER 2 had sold over 1 million copies in just 48 hours.
