GSC Game World has released a brand-new STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl update for May 2025, offering a huge list of improvements and bug fixes deployed within Patch 1.4. STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl was first launched back in November 2024, serving as the fourth game in the STALKER series and the first entry in 15 years since 2009’s Call of Pripyat. Players are tasked with navigating the FPS survival horror within the post-apocalyptic exclusion zone of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant.
It’s no secret that STALKER 2 had a long road to launch, initially delayed from its original 2012 release year. Development restarted years later in 2018, but the project was hit with further delays due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. To continue the FPS’ success, the STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl devs promised “more accessible” mod support in the future, acknowledging the positive impact modders and their work have had on gameplay.
STALKER 2 Reaches Impressive Player Milestone
Developer GSC Game World announces an incredible new feat for FPS horror STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl, celebrating a new player milestone.
Posted on social media and the game’s Steam page, GSC outlined everything included in Patch 1.4. For starters, one of the update's highlights is improvements to AI and combat, where the team has fixed a long list of issues affecting the behavior of A-Life NPCs, for example. STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl features eight different mutant types, including the Pseudogiant, the Chimera, and the Controller, and Patch 1.4 also brings a handful of changes to these enemies. Mutants can now use a corpse-eating animation and have an “alert” state if something is happening in the vicinity.

STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl’s The Lost Boys mission has also received a fix regarding Max Saturday’s despawning, alongside several fixes that were deployed to The Boundary mission. Additionally, the dev team wanted to highlight two separate fixes. In particular, there was a fix for shooting at sausage props and one where ducks could fly into the water after being shot at.
