STALKER 2: What to Do with Broken Weapons

The first thing that players should do upon finding a broken weapon is determine if it is something that they would like to use. If the player ultimately decides that they want to use the weapon, they should take it to a Technician and repair it. If the player, instead, determines that the broken weapon is not worth equipping, they should simply unload it (in order to claim its ammo) and leave it behind. This is recommended because it is not possible to sell weapons with red symbols, rendering them useless. While some STALKER fans may have the impulse to repair the broken weapons that they find and then sell them, that is not a good strategy, as the repair costs will be higher than what vendors are willing to pay for the fixed weapon.

Players can unload weapons without ever picking them up simply by pressing the input next to "unload" when one is selected. While fans must still collect weapons from the ground, in order to determine their durability, this feature can be useful when a broken weapon is found in a container or on a body.

While vendors are unwilling to purchase broken weapons, that is not the case with weapons that have yellow shield icons. Indeed, damaged weapons can be sold, and STALKER 2 players who are in need of coupons are advised to pick them up and take them to a location with a Trader. Notably, vendors will pay more for fully-repaired weapons than for damaged weapons, though it is still not worth repairing weapons before selling them.
