The classic Stalker games, part of the Legends of the Zone Trilogy Enhanced Edition, have a heavy emphasis on the NPC attitude towards players. When you've just started the game, all NPCs will be neutral towards your character, and you'll need to help them out in quests to nudge them in the positive direction. However, things can quickly escalate if you have your weapon equipped before interacting with an NPC. So, here's how you can safely put away your weapons before interacting with NPCs in Stalker.
Stalker Legends Of The Zone: How To Heal & Stop Bleeding
Players will get damaged while wandering around the world in Stalker Legends of the Zone, here's how they can restore health and stop bleeding.
How to Put Away Weapons in Stalker Legends of the Zone Trilogy
While exploring The Zone in Stalker Shadow of Chornobyl, Clear Sky, and Call of Pripyat, players will come across several NPCs along the way. Talking to these NPCs is pretty important to get some key information on your current objective, as well as get some side missions to embark on. However, if you have your weapons equipped, these NPCs will refuse to talk to you. Some might even end up becoming hostile and start shooting.
To avoid unnecessary violence when you're out and about The Zone, it's always best to put away your weapons before approaching an NPC. This will reduce your chances of getting into violent confrontations with NPC groups, and turning their attitude from neutral to hostile.
To put away your weapons, all players need to do is select the unequip icon in their weapon wheel (on controller). On the PC, the process is even quicker.

Controller (Xbox & PlayStation) |
Hold the L1 or LB key to open the weapon wheel, select the unequip icon on the left, and release to put away weapons. |

|
Keyboard (PC) |
Most of your weapons and equipment are mapped to quick slot keys, i.e. 1,2,3,4,5. Simply press the quick-slot key that your current weapon is tied to, which will unequip that weapon immediately. |
How to Check NPC Attitude in Stalker Enhanced Edition
Stalker Shadow of Chornobyl and Clear Sky offer players a way to monitor their relationship status with other NPC contacts and factions. If you're interacting with NPCs with your weapons out and getting into fights, their attitude towards your character will become hostile overall. This means next time you come across an NPC from a hostile faction, they'll shoot first and ask questions later.
Make sure to engage unknown NPCs after putting away weapons, and complete a host of side activities for other factions to gain their favor and establish a friendly relationship. Doing this will make your experience of classic Stalker games a lot easier.
