STALKER: Legends of the Zone Trilogy, which launched in March, is a compilation of the beloved shooter series' first three installments, which are regarded as some of the best post-apocalyptic games of all time despite their well-known tendencies to break and glitch out. The collection was initially only available on modern PlayStation and Xbox platforms, but GSC Game World has recently announced that STALKER: Legends of the Zone Trilogy will also arrive on Nintendo's latest system in the coming months.

It was revealed during the August 27 Nintendo Direct: Partner Showcase that STALKER: Legends of the Zone Trilogy will be released on the Switch sometime in November. According to GSC Game World, this port will contain versions of Shadow of Chernobyl, Clear Sky, and Call of Pripyat that have been optimized for Nintendo's popular gaming console. Among the highlighted features of STALKER: Legends of the Zone Trilogy's upcoming Switch build were support for the handheld's various modes, gyroscope integration, and limited availability of touchscreen controls. The PlayStation and Xbox versions of the compilation received console enhancements like reworked controls and UI improvements, so such changes will likely be in the Switch release as well.

STALKER: Legends of the Zone Trilogy Switch Release Date

  • November 2024

GSC Game World is set to launch the next entry in its acclaimed survival horror franchise, the much-anticipated STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl, on November 20. The Ukrainian studio faced plenty of challenges during the creation of its newest title due to Russia's ongoing invasion of the country, including the loss of a team member serving in the war and a hack that resulted in an early build of the game being publicly leaked. In a recently published interview, STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl technical producer Evgeniy Kulik acknowledged that the development process has taken a heavy toll on the GSC Game World staff, but he noted that the studio was excited to see the reactions of players when they finally get their hands on STALKER's latest installment. "They're providing us a lot of energy to look for," Kulik said.

STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl is powered by Unreal Engine 5, which features advanced graphics technologies like Lumen and Nanite. Those eager to try out the game when it comes out around the same time as the Switch port of STALKER: Legends of the Zone Trilogy can expect a smooth gaming experience, as John Linneman of hardware analysis outfit Digital Foundry has confirmed a 60 FPS mode for STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl.
