Star Wars Battlefront 2 has had a somewhat strange trajectory. When it was first released back in 2017, Star Wars Battlefront 2 was condemned by critics and players alike due to its predatory loot box system that severely hampered player progression. EA quickly stripped most of that system out of the game, and it was much better for it. But the damage had already been done. Though that didn't prevent DICE from supporting the game for a few years, and with each new update, Star Wars Battlefront 2 grew closer to becoming the ultimate Star Wars multiplayer experience it was always supposed to be.

Over the last eight years, Star Wars Battlefront 2 has seen a few small resurgences, often coinciding with the release of a new Star Wars movie or show. The most recent resurgence occurred with the release of Andor Season 2's finale, which resulted in a new all-time peak player-count of 18,635 on PC (according to SteamDB). A lot of new and returning players are hopping into Battlefront 2 at the minute, and they might want to brush up on some of the community's unwritten rules.

Explaining the Unwritten Rules of Star Wars Battlefront 2

Don't Hog The Heroes

One of the most appealing features of Star Wars Battlefront 2 is that players can become some of their favorite Star Wars heroes and villains. But aside from Battlefront 2's Hero Showdown or Heroes Vs. Villains mode, players might occasionally struggle to wield a lightsaber or Force powers. Becoming a hero or villain in Battlefront 2 requires the player to earn a certain number of points, determined by their eliminations and how well they're playing the objective.

A common issue that can arise in modern Battlefront 2 lobbies is a handful of high-rank players hogging the playable heroes. Players with a lot of experience in BF2 will often have better Star Cards, and thus will be more powerful than newcomers, and more likely to earn points at a faster rate. Some of these high-rank players will then try to play as a hero as much as possible, and while that's completely allowed and understandable, it's courteous to let other players in the lobby have a chance of being the hero too.

The same is true for Star Wars Battlefront 2's special Reinforcements (Jet troopers, ARC troopers etc.) And vehicles. It can be frustrating to see one player camping on the menu screen for minutes at a time just waiting for a hero, vehicle, or Reinforcement slot to become available rather than playing the game.

Honor The Duel in Heroes Vs. Villains

Star Wars Battlefront 2's Heroes Vs. Villains mode can be home to some of the best experiences in the entire game, with it paving the way for dramatic, intense clashes that are worthy of the silver screen. But it can just as easily be home to some of the game's most frustrating moments. It's all dependent on player behavior.

Heroes Vs. Villains is often at its best when players engage in 1v1, or 2v2 duels. This stops the action from feeling too overwhelming, while still allowing for plenty of cinematic moments. This is especially true for lightsaber-wielding heroes and villains, whose movesets are tailored towards duels.

Don't Camp at the Back of Geonosis

In general, players should avoid camping in Star Wars Battlefront 2, especially outside an enemy team's spawn zone. This is particularly true for Battlefront 2's Geonosis map. Seasoned Battlefront 2 players know all too well how frustrating this map can be when an ARC Trooper or Princess Leia are stationed atop the ridge at the back of the map, pelting the Separatist team with an endless barrage of explosive blaster bolts.

Play The Objective

Following on from the last unwritten rule, players should always strive to complete the team's objective in Star Wars Battlefront 2. That's true for any multiplayer game, but it's especially important in BF2, where the vast majority of its modes revolve around large-scale team objectives.
