Aspyr has released Update 3 for the Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection, bringing a host of fixes as well as a bunch of platform-specific changes to both titles in the collection. The Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection brings the two original games in the series into one package, offering a modern way to play them.
After a rocky launch back in March, Aspyr has now released several updates for the Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection. Each one has improved the game massively, with Aspyr preferring to wait to release large patches rather than small, incremental changes. This approach has got the collection back on track, making the Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection the best way to experience two of the best Star Wars games ever made.
Aspyr released the patch notes for the Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection Update 3 online, and it's a big one. Both games in the collection have received a ton of fixes, only cementing their place further as some of the best Star Wars games ever made. Included in the fixes are some general improvements to server stability, as well as more crash fixes. There's no single transformative fix, but it's a huge selection of small fixes that add up to make one great update for the Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection.
On top of the fixes across all platforms, Update 3 also brings several platform-specific fixes. Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch all have a tiny number of changes, but the Steam version has received plenty of fixes in Update 3. This includes a fix for Steam Deck users who previously could not see button prompts, as well as a Battlefront 2-specific issue that stopped headshots from registering properly. There have been several huge improvements to the Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection since its launch, and this latest update is a strong continuation of that trend.
Despite Aspyr's initial struggles with the game, it's good to see the Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection heading in the right direction. It would have been easy for the developer to simply release it and abandon it in its rough launch state, leaving the Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection multiplayer controversy to fester among the community. With Update 3 now out, it remains to be seen how long Aspyr is planning to continue updating the game. However, there is still some work that needs to be done, even after this latest update, so let's hope there's more to come from Aspyr and the Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection.
