Both games in Respawn Entertainment's Star Wars Jedi series could be on the way to the Nintendo Switch 2 in the future. A potential new leak has suggested that the popular Star Wars titles could be set to arrive on Nintendo's latest console, giving many players the opportunity to experience the games for the first time and catch up on the story so far before the eventual third game in the series.
Both Star Wars Jedi games were a big critical success. On OpenCritic, 2019's Fallen Order boasts a Top Critic Average of 82, while 2023's Survivor took another step forward with 84. The games tell the story of Cal Kestis, an Order 66 survivor who is struggling with being hunted by the relentless Galactic Empire. The gameplay itself blends action-adventure exploration with the brutality of Soulslikes, making Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order and Survivor standout titles in the genre. However, these games are at their best during lightsaber combat. Previously, when it came to Star Wars games with the best lightsaber combat, Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast was difficult to beat, although it could be argued that both Respawn titles have taken the title away from the classic Raven Software game.
"Is That...?" Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic is Already Colliding with KOTOR, But in the Best Way Possible
Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic teases fans with a deep-cut connection to KOTOR, which widens a massive set of challenges for Hudson's studio.
Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and Survivor Could Be Coming To Nintendo Switch 2
Leaker Nash Weedle claims on X that Disney is pushing for its titles going forward to be released on the Nintendo Switch 2. As a result, he expects both Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and Survivor to make their way to the platform at some point in the future. However, he doesn't give a timeline for when fans can expect to get their hands on two of the best Star Wars games on the Switch 2. According to the leaker, the push to port the older games to the new console is "because of their prestige and because the trilogy's closure is still pending." If true, this would give gamers who haven't already played the games to catch up on the story before the third Star Wars Jedi game, which is currently in development at Respawn.
As with every leak, this should of course be taken with a pinch of salt. However, it certainly feels like a distinct possibility. After all, both games in the Star Wars Jedi series were released on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, meaning a port to the Nintendo Switch 2 should be technically feasible. And earlier this year, there were tons of third-party Nintendo Switch 2 ports announced, including games like Cyberpunk 2077, Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade, and Borderlands 4. This signaled Nintendo's intention to make the Switch 2 a device where gamers can get their fix of every type of game, as opposed to being a machine where primarily Nintendo exclusives shine. If the Star Wars Jedi games also make their way to the Nintendo Switch 2, it would be just another example of Nintendo's commitment to this mantra for the future.
It feels as though Star Wars is set to make a big gaming comeback in the coming years. Games like Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and Survivor have ensured the franchise hasn't totally collapsed in the space, but the future slate of titles is looking extremely promising, with something for everyone. Star Wars: Galactic Racer has those who are after high-octane racing action covered, while Star Wars Zero Company should satisfy turn-based strategy fans. That's not to mention Quantic Dream's Star Wars Eclipse, which has been quiet for some time now. There's still the third Star Wars Jedi game, too, which likely won't be released for a while yet. The Knights of the Old Republic remake is still in the works, as is Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic, a brand-new RPG from BioWare veteran Casey Hudson. It's a whole lot of Star Wars to keep fans busy for years to come.
