These Star Wars clans prove themselves as important throughout the canon of the franchise, whether that’s in movies or series on Disney Plus. The best Star Wars clans often rove themselves through power, whether that’s in wealth, armies, or the strength of their individuals.

Money is definitely an important aspect of life in the galaxy far, far away, and those who have the credits, have the power. Enter the InterGalactic Banking Clan, an extremely important faction in the times of the Galactic Republic, in which winning their favor was almost essential to survival. The InterGalactic Banking Clan could provide prosperity and stability if they were not in favor of the Separatists.

Whilst this Galactic Banking Clan might be a tad political, the Prequel Trilogy never shied from those themes, and the guild featured rather heavily in The Clone Wars at the center of trade disputes, embroiled in corruption and investigation from some of its impartial members, which did not last into the Galactic Empire.

6 The Crimson Dawn

A Criminal Syndicate Who Acts as A Thorn In The Emperor’s Side

  • Notable Members: Maul, Lady Qi’ra

Maul had managed to survive his fight with Obi-Wan Kenobi, and later, the assassination attempt in Order 66, just to thrive once more as a thorn in his former master’s side. Maul hated Kenobi, but he also hated Palpatine, the Sith Lord who stole him from his home and imbued him with such hatred to make him a powerful Sith, only to abandon him. The Crimson Dawn was born out of this rage.

These characters, who exist outside the Star Wars film canon, are some of the most formidable Force users in the Galaxy.

This criminal syndicate would focus on a war against the Sith, and even with Maul’s death, Qi’ra continued his teachings, and spread chaos across the galaxy for the Empire to try and snuff out. Despite the Crimson Dawn’s reach as a crime syndicate, they were bested by the Empire.

Galactic Gangsters

  • Notable Members: Ziro the Hutt, Jabba the Hutt

Another powerful criminal clan belongs to the Hutts, a group of gangsters that would often council together on Nal Hutta to discuss the Outer Rim Territories. The Hutts were vicious and greedy, desiring nothing more than power above all. They had no care for politics or the battle of Sith and Jedi unless there was some gain to be had and more credits to line their non-existent pockets with.

The Hutts were crime lords of the same species, and these large slug-like creatures would often rule vast criminal empires under the Empire’s eye. Ruling for centuries, the Hutts held no fear, for they knew they commanded armies of intimidation that would keep them safe.

These Sith in the Star Wars franchise saw the error in their ways and eventually turned to the light side.

Death Watch did not believe in pacifists, and they d emanded to be feared by the galaxy. Even worse, Death Watch was once ruled by Pre Vizsla, Mand’alor who wielded the very darksaber that belonged to his family, only for it and his squad to be usurped by Maul.

Great Mothers in Ahsoka
  • Notable Members: Mother Talzin, Asajj Ventress, Merrin

Dathomir is a dangerous place to venture, and those in the galaxy far, far away would be wise to avoid it, and the territories belonging to the shadowy figures of the Nightsisters. These beings thrive on dark energy, and they can manipulate the arcane through magick, tapping into the magical ichor within life itself to grow in power and create abominations of the Force.

Nightsisters have great power, and they have been able to corrupt death, bringing creatures back from it in zombie form. The Nightsisters are witches, magic beings that are worth fearing for their potential and unpredictable allegiances outside of the Force. Even when Palpatine had thought he wiped them out, outside the galaxy, they still remained.

  • Notable Members: Bo-Katan, Duchess Satine

Clan Kryze may have fallen from grace after the murder of Duchess Satine, the peaceful ruler of Mandalore, but that doesn’t mean it cannot rebuild. Clan Kryze is led by Bo-Katan, a Mandalorian who seeks to bring her people back to the planet that they once thought destroyed and uninhabitable.

Bo-Katan is an honorable leader with a dark past, as she once followed Death Watch against her own sister in an attempt to bring the warrior spirit back to Mandalore. Older and wiser, Bo-Katan is the best leader that Mandalore has to offer, and even without the darksaber, she is fit to rule.
