Solo: A Star Wars Story hit theaters in 2018 and had a disappointing run during its first two weekends. The movie's screenwriter, Jon Kasdan, recently took to Twitter to confirm that no sequel is in development.

Kasdan believes a second Solo movie would not be picked up by Disney and would be a tough sell. Kasdan also cites the packed Disney+ schedule as a reason the young Solo story would not be made into a show. As of now, Disney+ does have a large slate of shows in development or scheduled for release, including the second season of The Mandalorian.

According to the director, Ron Howard, there was no plan for a sequel to the movie even before it was released. However, the actor who plays Han Solo, Alden Ehrenreich is signed to appear in three Star War s movies, so it is possible that there may be more origin stories to come.

Disney is currently scheduled to release Star Wars movies in 2022, 2024, and 2026, and Disney+ is planning for multiple movie and show releases. The Disney+ animated show Star Wars: The Clone Wars is currently in the final season, with a new episode scheduled for April 3rd. The latest Star Wars movie, Rise of Skywalker, received an early digital release as well.
