First launched in 2011, The Old Republic remains the longest-running title in the Star Wars franchise. Star Wars: The Old Republic fans can now look forward to May 28, the official release date for the Dynamic Worlds update. This update picks up the Legacy of the Sith storyline with two new chapters: Galactic Threads and Master’s Enigma. These continue right after Desperate Defiance, sending players after Darth Malgus and Shae Vizla, while also diving deeper into Darth Nul’s holocron, the Hidden Chain’s plans, and a mysterious figure pulling strings in the background. These chapters were originally meant to launch separately in updates 7.6 and 7.7, but now they’re dropping close together. The Old Republic developer Broadsword says work is almost done, with more rollout info coming soon.
Star Wars: The Old Republic’s Dynamic Worlds Update Arrives May 28
To help players follow the expanding story in Star Wars: The Old Republic, the new Eras Window breaks down the timeline and shows character progress. It includes summaries, visual overviews, and quick access to the main missions. The Mission Log also got a makeover with a cleaner layout, better sorting, and a direct link to the Galaxy Map. Gameplay-wise, class balance changes are hitting several roles, like Juggernaut, Guardian, Marauder, Sentinel, Sniper, Gunslinger, Assassin, and Shadow, with more tweaks planned for 7.7.1. Dynamic Encounters are being expanded to more planets now - Tython, Korriban, Hutta, Ord Mantell, Coruscant, Dromund Kaas, and Ilum - each with themed rewards tied to that planet.
For endgame players, the Relentless Replication Operation is getting a Master Mode, offering exclusive achievements, a special mount, and access to Legendary Augments. Players can also earn those through PvP and Veteran content. PvP Season 8, called Champions of the Wild, brings new armor sets, stronghold items, and a Cartel Coin catch-up system to help players close the gap. The update also refreshes parts of Star Wars: The Old Republic's UI, including a cleaner World Map, new character skin tones, and visual updates like better Chiss textures. And from July 8 to August 19, the Nar Shaddaa Nightlife event returns with new rewards like the flashy Supernova Helmet and a bunch of companion creatures.
