The Vader Immortal: A Star Wars VR Series port for PlayStation VR was announced during this year's Star Wars day on May the 4th. Originally only available for the Oculus, the game will be available for more players when it hits PlayStation platforms, and now there is finally a release date in sight.

At the latest State of Play event, a new trailer for the Vader Immortal VR game on PlayStation was revealed, showing some gameplay footage and the summer release date for the game. The PlayStation VR edition of the game will be available on August 25, which is over a year after the first episode debuted on Oculus Rift. The game comes from ILMxLab and is written by The Dark Knight scribe David S. Goyer.

Vader Immortal is described as a cinematic, interactive experience and puts players in the shoes of a smuggler on Darth Vader's planet of Mustafar. This means that players can step into fully immersive lightsaber battles and face-off with Darth Vader himself. Wielding a lightsaber using the PSVR controller is sure to be one of the highlights of the game, and the gameplay footage shows that there will be many different colors and hilts for players to acquire throughout their play-through.

There are three episodes of the Vader Immortal series to date and they will all be packaged as one release for PSVR, meaning players won't need to wait between installments and can play the series as one complete story. There are currently no indications about whether any more episodes of Vader Immortal will be released in the future now that the series is also on PSVR.

Vader Immortal on PSVR is the latest in a range of new Star Wars games coming to market. LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga will be released later in October as will the new flight-simulator dogfight game Star Wars: Squadrons.  A re-release of the classic Star Wars: Episode 1: Racer game has also recently come out on PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch, meaning there is plenty of Star Wars content for gamers to be excited about.

For those with a PSVR, Vader Immortal will be an exciting new game based on a hit franchise. VR players recently got to play as a hero in Iron Man VR and there are plenty of other mainstream games making use of the VR platform, including the upcoming Star Wars: Squadrons.

Vader Immortal: A Star Wars VR Series will be released on PlayStation VR on August 25, 2020 and is available now for Oculus VR.
