Eric "ConcernedApe" Barone has said that he might one day make Stardew Valley 2. The original Stardew Valley is one of the most popular video games of all time and maintains a massive community of players nine years after its initial launch. Creator ConcernedApe has released all kinds of exciting new updates for Stardew Valley over the years, which has kept fans satisfied in the absence of a Stardew Valley 2.
Stardew Valley updates have added significant new content to the life sim/RPG, giving players new areas to explore, new scenes to experience, and new characters to meet. ConcernedApe has said in the past that there may never be an end to Stardew Valley updates, but it seems as though he's also open to one day making a proper Stardew Valley 2.
Stardew Valley Developer Answers Frequent Question About Mr. Qi
Stardew Valley creator Eric 'ConcernedApe' Barone offers an official answer on one of the most common Mr. Qi questions, and it's a polarizing one.
ConcernedApe recently appeared on the TigerBelly podcast with Bobby Lee, where Lee asked about a potential Stardew Valley 2 and the ongoing updates to the original game. "I might eventually make a Stardew Valley 2, to be honest," ConcernedApe said. Lee then asked why ConcernedApe doesn't charge for Stardew Valley updates, to which he said, "I just don't care that much about money." ConcernedApe clarified that money has never been the "driving motivating factor" of making Stardew Valley. "What I care about is people loving the game."
Stardew Valley 2 Could Happen One Day
If Stardew Valley 2 ever happens, one has to imagine that it will be an instant success. The original Stardew Valley sold over 41 millions of copies, earned rave reviews from critics, and quite simply, has become one of the most beloved video games of all time. Considering this, Stardew Valley 2 would almost assuredly bring those millions of fans back for the new game while also drawing in potential newcomers to the franchise.
"What I care about is people loving the game."
Time will tell if a Stardew Valley 2 ever materializes, but ConcernedApe fans have a different project to look forward to in the meantime. ConcernedApe's Haunted Chocolatier is in active development and is expected to release at some point within the next five years. For the uninitiated, Haunted Chocolatier has players run a chocolate store and interact with a variety of humans and ghosts. Based on what's been shown so far, Haunted Chocolatier will have more action than Stardew Valley, but it will still maintain the latter game's cozy vibes and general aesthetic. Here's hoping more information on Haunted Chocolatier comes sooner rather than later.
