Stardew Valley's gameplay is centered quite a bit around growing crops and expanding the farm, but some features imply the universe of the game is imbued with magical forces. Fighting slimes in the mines, hunting down the Witch in her swamp, and meeting the wizard as well as the Junimos are all proof of something supernatural.
Stardew Valley: 10 Best Things To Do In Spring
Spring is quite busy in Stardew Valley so farmers should make sure to prioritize these tasks to get the most out of the season.
Some of these supernatural features are dark and evil, such as the creatures discovered in the mines and Skull Cavern, but some can be surprisingly useful for farmers trying to get their farm going, especially early on in the game. One of the more useful magical beings in Stardew Valley is the crop fairy.
Who Is The Crop Fairy?
While the Witch of the swamp has an identity related to the wizard Rasmodius, the game actually never tells players who the Crop Fairy might be. The Crop Fairy is simply one among many creatures in the game. It's included in some of the random events that players might witness after ending another day on their farm.
Just like the Witch, however, she has a similar gameplay feature where her appearance will bring about some changes to the player's farm. In that sense, she's a good creature, and witnessing her arrival is pretty lucky considering the low odds of ever seeing her appear.
When Does The Crop Fairy Appear?
Speaking of appearances, the Crop Fairy random event has a fairly low chance of happening. Most of the random events have extremely low likelihoods, even lower than the Crop Fairy's appearance, which has a 1% chance of happening at the farm. This chance is slightly increased to 1.7%, provided players have a Fairy Rose that is fully grown on their farm.
Stardew Valley: Every Animal, Ranked
Stardew Valley features a lot of great animals - here's a look at all of them and how they rank against one another.
There are two conditions for her to appear: it should be any other season but winter, it can't be the last day of the season, and it must not be raining. The Crop Fairy can only affect crops that are planted outdoors, and cannot influence crops that are planted in the greenhouse all year.
What Does The Crop Fairy Do?
The Crop Fairy is an extremely powerful random event. If it successfully takes place, meaning all weather and seasonal requirements are met, and there are crops outside on the player's farm eligible for her magic, the crops affected by her will be fully mature the next morning.
What makes a crop eligible for her magic? These crops must be located in a 5 by 5 tile area, and they shouldn't be fully mature yet. Moreover, the crop in the middle of this area of effect cannot be Wild Seeds. It's possible for the event to take place in the form of a nightly cutscene but for nothing to actually happen if no eligible area was found. Alternatively, it's possible for just one crop to be affected by the event if a full 5 by 5 tile area wasn't found by the fairy.
