The "Community Cleanup" Special Order in Stardew Valley. It has a week-long deadline and offers a worthwhile reward. In short, you'll need to gather and dispose of 20 pieces of trash. However, you'll want to read the request carefully since the trash must be disposed of in the proper area. With seven days to complete it, "Community Cleanup" is one of the simpler special orders to start out with if you're new to Stardew Valley.
Community Cleanup Walkthrough
What to Know & How to Complete
Special Orders can be taken from the bulletin board in front of Mayor Lewis' house. You will automatically unlock this on the second day of Fall (Year 1). Unlike regular requests, Special Orders have longer deadlines and are generally more time-consuming. However, their rewards are much better than the requests you can grab from the board by Pierre's store.
When you interact with the bulletin board, the order "Community Cleanup" (requested by Linus) may be up for grabs. Your task will be to collect 20 trash items and dispose of them in the giant garbage can behind the train platform (Bath House area). The Bath House area is behind Robin's (Carpenter) House.
Do not toss trash in the garbage can next to your inventory. This will get rid of the item, but it won't count towards your goal.
If you had some trash before accepting the Special Order, you can add it to the garbage bin near the Bath House. Your progress could potentially show 0/20 (Collect pieces of trash) and 1/20 (Dump the trash in the recycling bin behind the train platform). You'll still need to gather 20 pieces of Trash in order to complete the quest.
Unlike some Special Orders, the Community Cleanup cannot be repeated the following year. If you don't accept it the first time you see it on the board, it will reappear later.
Best Places to Find Trash
Fish On Your Farm
You can find trash by digging in the trash cans in Pelican Town, but the better way of farming trash is to fish for it. Ideally, you'll want to fish on your farm. The small ponds on your farm carry more trash than they do fish. Just choose a body of water on your land and cast the line.
The following items count as "trash" and can be placed in the large bin:
You may also reel in Joja Cola, but these do not as trash. Instead, you can drink Joja Cola to replenish HP or Energy. They also work as a gift for Sam.
Stardew Valley: How to Get Cave Carrot
Cave Carrots are a type of vegetable in Stardew Valley that you'll need for a Bundle at the Community Center.
Community Cleanup Reward
Is It Worth It?
The Community Cleanup completion rewards are:
-
* Recipe for
Fiber Seeds
- 500g
- 250 Friendship Points (with Linus)
* You'll receive the Fiber Seeds recipe in the mail on the following day.
At first glance, Fiber Seeds may not seem impressive. However, you'll need Fiber if you're raising livestock. Unlike most crops, Fiber Seeds do not need watering, and they will even grow in winter. When the Fiber is fully grown, you can harvest it with the Scythe.
If you've bought the Grass Starter Recipe from Pierre, you can make your own grass to plant around your barn/coop. One "bundle" of grass uses x10 Fiber.
