Despite their low selling price in Stardew Valley, Frozen Tears are one of the more useful gems found in the game. If you're trying to gift Sebastian something he loves, or complete one of the Bundles in the Community Center,
Frozen Tear are an important item to have in your inventory.
To find some Frozen Tears, you'll need to dive deep into the Mines and prepare yourself to take on some powerful enemies. There are many other sources where you can obtain Frozen Tears as well, so you're bound to find some quickly if you know where to look. Here's how you can pick up some Frozen Tears.
Stardew Valley: How to Get Fire Quartz
Fire Quartz is more than just a colorful version of Quartz in Stardew Valley. Here's where you can find the gem and how to use it.
Where to Get Frozen Tears in Stardew Valley
Frozen Tears can be found in a few different areas, and via a variety of methods. Here's where you can locate them:
-
Foraging in The Mines from Floors 40 to 79
- If the Dangerous Mines are active, Frozen Tears are only found on floors 71 to 79
- Foraging in Skull Cavern (random floors)
- Inside Frozen Geodes (6.25% chance)
- Inside Omni Geodes (2.0833% chance)
-
Dropped by Dust Sprite enemies
- Only applicable once the player reaches the bottom floor of the Mines
- In Fishing Chests
- In Trash Cans after the player has reached the bottom floor of the Mines
- While Panning
- As an Ice Pip Fish Pond produce when the pond has at least a population of 9
- In random mail from the Wizard
- From the Statue of Endless Fortune on Sebastian's birthday (Winter 10)
-
Pierre's shop booth at the Feast of the Winter Star for 2,500g (only one)
- The items he stocks are random from a pool of items, so a Frozen Tear may not be available every year that you attend
The most fool-proof way of picking up some Frozen Tears is just by sticking to the Mines and foraging for them. They'll look similar to Frozen Geodes, but will be smaller and a lighter blue shade. They are sometimes in wooden containers in the Mines as well. Make sure to visit Floors 40 to 79 to find them, as they won't be found anywhere else. These floors are also where you'll spot some Dust Sprite enemies, which occasionally drop the gem.
If you stumble on some Frozen and Omni Geodes in the Mines, there's a small chance you'll receive a Frozen Tear when you break it open. The same thing goes for Panning and Fishing Chests. If you have a Fish Pond with Ice Pips inside, they will occasionally provide you with Frozen Tears whenever there are 9 Ice Pips in the pond.

How to Use Frozen Tears in Stardew Valley
Frozen Tears have a lot of different uses. If you have some in your inventory, here's what you can do with them:
- Sell them (75g; or 97g with the Gemologist Profession)
- Gift to Sebastian (Loved gift)
- In the Geologist's Bundle in the Community Center Boiler Room
- In the crafting recipe for a Warrior Ring (10x Iron Bar, 25x Coal, 10x Frozen Tear)
-
To tailor a Dark Jacket
- They also count as a blue item for dyeing
- To complete some Help Wanted Board requests
- To complete a few Fish Pond quests for Blobfish and Ice Pips
- In a Crystalarium
If you are looking to befriend Sebastian, Frozen Tears are one of his most loved gifts. They can also be used to complete the Geologist's Bundle in the Community Center if you are on this path instead of completing the JojaMart route.
You can also craft a Warrior Ring using Frozen Tears, which can infuse you with 'Warrior Energy' anytime you defeat an enemy. It's a good idea to save a few Frozen Tears for occasional Help Wanted quests, and if you're looking to upgrade your Blobfish and Ice Pip Fish Ponds.
For an infinite supply of Frozen Tears, place one in a Crystalarium (unlocked at Mining Level 9). They take just under 19 hours to reproduce, and one gem will continue producing forever until removed from the machine.
