The Galaxy Sword is one of the most powerful base weapons in Stardew Valley, featuring a +4 Speed stat and dealing 60 to 80 damage per hit. It is classified as a level 13 sword with a 0.02% chance of delivering a critical strike. To obtain the Galaxy Sword, players must complete a specific series of actions. However, the game does not give explicit instructions for this. Instead, there are subtle hints throughout Stardew Valley that can guide players in the right direction.

Stardew Valley: Best Sword Weapons, Ranked

Stardew Valley has no shortage of weapons, despite being a cozy game, but these swords are among the best you can find.

After acquiring the Galaxy Sword, players can purchase both the Galaxy Hammer and Galaxy Dagger from the Adventurer's Guild shop, allowing them to create a powerful weapon inventory for tackling the various mining challenges in Stardew Valley. To enhance these weapons, they can be forged with various gems at the Volcano Forge. The optimal choice is to forge them using three Galaxy Soul. For instance, when creating the Galaxy Sword, this process yields the Infinity Blade, a level 17 sword that deals between 80 and 100 damage per hit.

How To Get The First Hint

The Dwarvish Headstone In Pelican Town's Graveyard

Players can receive a hint about acquiring the Galaxy Sword after they obtain the Dwarvish Translation Guide from Gunther. This step is not necessary to get the Galaxy Sword, but it is a good starting point for players who wish to work out the puzzle themselves. To get the Dwarvish Translation Guide, players must donate all four Dwarf Scrolls to the Museum. Each scroll can be found through various means:

  • Dwarf Scroll I: Tilling on any floor in the Mines or Skull Cavern has a 0.16% chance, or it can be obtained from killing Bats, Bugs, Cave Flies, Duggies, Green Slimes, Grubs, Rock Crabs, or Stone Golems, which has a 0.5% chance.
  • Dwarf Scroll II: Tilling on floors 1-39 in the Mines with a 0.1% chance, or from killing Blue Slimes, Dust Sprites, Frost Bats, or Ghosts with a 0.5% chance.
  • Dwarf Scroll III: Killing Blue Slimes has a 1.5% drop chance, while killing all other Slime variants (except Green), Lava Bats, Lava Crabs, Squid Kids, Shadow Brutes, Shadow Shamans, Metal Heads, Spiders, or Blue Squids has a 0.5% drop chance.
  • Dwarf Scroll IV: Tilling on floors 80 and above of the Mines has a 0.2% chance, while killing any monsters, except Skeletons, Serpents, Wilderness Golems, Carbon Ghosts, Iridium Bats, Iridium Crabs, or Haunted Skulls, has a 0.1% chance.

Stardew Valley: How To Unlock All Special Abilities

There are several special abilities in Stardew Valley, and here is how players can unlock them.

Once the Dwarvish Translation Guide is acquired, players can interact with the top left gravestone in Pelican Town's Graveyard and read the puzzle on it. It reads:

Stand between the pillars three

With gift as precious as the sky:

A rainbow forged from land, not sea

Then galaxies will heed your cry.

The bold excerpts of the above riddle indicate that players need to stand between the three pillars in the Calico Desert with a Prismatic Shard to receive a reward from the "galaxies," which is the Galaxy Sword.

How To Unlock Calico Desert

Via Either The Community Center Or Joja Upgrades

Unlocking Calico Desert requires players to contribute a significant donation of Gold, regardless of whether they choose the Community Center or Joja Mart route.

The Community Center

To be able to access the Bus Service when on the Community Center route of Stardew Valley, players must complete the Vault Bundle. The Vault Bundle requires four cash deposits to complete and fix the bus, costing a total of 42,500g:

Stardew Valley's Community Center is a long, grindy process to complete. Here are a few tips to make bundle completion easier.

Joja Community Development Form

The Joja option for repairing the bus is slightly less expensive. However, it does not provide any rewards and requires full payment upfront. In this playthrough, the cost of the bus repair is 40,000g, which must be paid directly to Morris at the Joja Mart.

Once this has been paid, players will be able to board the Bus at the Bus Stop when Pam is present for 500g per journey. This takes players directly to Calico Desert.

How To Obtain A Prismatic Shard

The Hardest Step: Relying Solely On Chance

Throughout Stardew Valley, there are various ways to find a Prismatic Shard, but almost all are at a percentage chance and are never guaranteed. There are only two ways to obtain a Prismatic Shard that aren't based on chance: either from the Statue Of True Perfection daily, or from the chest at the top of the Volcano Dungeon on Ginger Island. However, the Statue is difficult to acquire, and since players will need at least one Prismatic Shard for other purposes in the game, like donating to the museum, they may need to search for more than just the one located in the Volcano chest.

The best percentage chances of obtaining a Prismatic Shard come from either a Mystic Stone found in the Mines at floors 100 and above, the Skull Cavern, or the Quarry, or from a Meteorite that appears on the player's farm. Each of these options has a 25% chance of yielding a Prismatic Shard. In order of percentage chance, here are the other ways of finding a Prismatic Shard:

  • Up to 17.5%: Blessing Of The Butterfly.
  • 3.8%: Treasure Room inside Skull Cavern.
  • 3.5%: Iridium Nodes in the Skull Cavern, Quarry, and Volcano Dungeon.
  • 0.79%: Golden Mystery Box.
  • 0.4%: Omni Geode.
  • 0.4%: Mystery Box.
  • 0.1%: Serpents and Mummies.
  • 0.1%: Wilderness Golems and Iridium Golems after reaching Combat level 10.
  • 0.09%: Daily chance from a 9-inhabitant Rainbow Trout Fishing Pond.
  • 0.05%: Shadow Brutes and Shadow Shamans.
  • 0.05%: Any monster after reaching the bottom of the Mines.
  • 0.012%: Fishing Treasure Chest after reaching Fishing level 6.

Where To Find The Three Pillars

The Final Step To Unlocking The Galaxy Sword

Once players have obtained a Prismatic Shard and repaired the bus to access the Calico Desert, they need to locate the three pillars in the upper right corner of the Calico Desert map. When they arrive, players should hold the Prismatic Shard and walk into the center of the three pillars. The pillars will consume the Prismatic Shard and, in return, reward players with the Galaxy Sword.

Stardew Valley: What to Do at the Desert Festival

You might not get to the desert festival during year one of Stardew Valley, but be sure to head over when you fix the bus.

Players can then venture to the Skull Cavern, situated in the top left corner of the Calico Desert, to try out their new weapon if they wish. They will likely notice a significant damage improvement when comparing their previous lower-level weapons to the Galaxy Sword.
