Lost Books have always been valuable trophies for Stardew Valley players, as they provide the opportunity to boost skills or gain perks. However, this mechanic now has even more variety with the addition of the Bookseller NPC. Arriving in the game world with the 1.6 update, the Bookseller is a traveling merchant and a great fan of things literature. He will gladly offer you valuable goods in exchange for unnecessary books or sell something from his collection for a decent amount, but finding him is not easy.

Since the Bookseller is a traveling merchant, he rarely visits Pelican Town. You will have to keep an eye on the calendar so as not to miss his visit. But fortunately, he is always waiting for you in the same place.

Where to Find the Bookseller in Stardew Valley

Book Seller location on the map in Stardew Valley

To find the Bookseller in Stardew Valley, you should go to the northeastern part of Pelican Town. Using Pierre's General Store as your starting point, head east and cross the river. Once you reach Joja Mart, go north a little and climb the stairs that will lead you straight to the merchant. However, you will most likely fail if you arrive at this place on a random day.

The Bookseller arrives in Pelican Town only twice every season. And the date of his next visit changes each time. Luckily, this won't be a surprise, as you can know the exact dates by checking the events on the community calendar outside Pierre's General Store. On the appointed date, Marcello will be behind the counter of his traveling store throughout the day, so you will have time to trade with him.

But before visiting a Bookseller, you should save up more money and Lost Books. This seller's selection of skill books and perks changes every time, and prices range from a few thousand to 25,000g+. Considering this price, the seller will warn you against buying something you already have. Simply put, the books with skills and perks in which you have reached the maximum level will be marked so that you do not make a mistake.

If you have accumulated a lot of Lost Books while fishing or searching for artifacts and no longer need them, trading with the Bookseller will become your favorite pastime. This merchant loves literature and has a decent stock of goods for exchange. You can get many positions from Coal and Wood to Slime Incubator. So visit Marcello every time he visits the city, and you won't regret it.
