How to Unlock Treasure Totem in Stardew Valley

If you'd like to unlock the recipe for Treasure Totems, you will first need to upgrade your Mastery Level. You can find this information in the Skills section of the main menu. For the first level, you will need to garner 10,000 points, while the second will require 15,000, the third 20,000, and so on.

To upgrade your Mastery Level, you will just need to go about your daily tasks and hone your skills, such as fishing, farming, and mining. You can also choose to purchase some Skill Books from the Book Seller when they appear twice each month. Check the calendar to see when they will be visiting the town.

When you've reached the required number of points for the next Mastery Upgrade, you'll need to visit the Mastery Cave. This is located within the eastern section of Cindersap Forest, shown in the first two images above. Enter through the door, and you'll find five pillars in front of you. To get the Treasure Totem recipe, you'll want to choose the Forging Mastery Pillar, which is the one with an axe depicted on the front. You will also receive the Mystic Tree Seed recipe, and you'll be able to get Golden Mystery Boxes.

Once you've made a Treasure Totem or two, you can use it by first placing it in your inventory. Then, you will want to go to any area that is surrounded by diggable terrain, such as sand or dirt, and click on the Treasure Totem in your inventory, which will summon a ring of Artifact Spots around you.

You can then use your Hoe to dig up each of these spots and receive rewards and artifacts in return. You will have about 16 different spots to dig through, so you are sure to get some valuable items.
