Along with fruits and vegetables, the crops of Stardew Valley include flowers like summer spangles and blue jazz. One such crop is the 
Poppy, which only grows in the summer.
As a flower, poppies are useful for honey production and making a decent profit. You can also use them to make a certain food recipe, and they're especially useful if you want to befriend Penny. This guide will explain exactly what to expect when growing poppies in Stardew Valley and what to do with them once they've fully grown.

Poppy Basics
Poppies are a summer crop, so you can find their seeds at Pierre's and JojaMart during the summer. The seeds cost 100g at Pierre's, and 125g at JojaMart if you don't have a membership. You can also find them for sale at the Night Market on the 16th of Winter.
Poppies need seven days to grow, which means they'll bloom on the same day of the week you plant them. Like any other crop, you can cut down this time with Speed-Gro fertilizer and the Agriculturalist profession.
Each poppy has a chance to be red, orange, or white once it blooms. The poppy's color has no impact on its price or its uses, but each color takes up its own inventory space. A regular poppy sells for 140g, or up to 308g if you have an iridium-quality poppy and the Tiller profession bonus.
Poppy Uses
- Most villagers in Stardew Valley like flowers as gifts, but poppies are an exception. For whatever reason, almost everyone hates poppies.
- The one exception is Penny, who loves poppies. If you hold onto a few high-quality poppies, you can use them as gifts to quickly boost her friendship level.
- If you watch "The Queen of Sauce" on Winter 7 of Year 2, you'll get the poppyseed muffin recipe. If you miss the episode, you have a chance to see it again as a rerun, or you can watch it again on Winter 7 of Year 4, 6, and so on.

If you leave fully grown poppies close to a beehive, the bees will create poppy honey instead of the usual wild honey. Poppy honey is worth 380g, much more than the 100g of wild honey. The only flower that produces more valuable

- You can combine cloth and a poppy to create a pleated skirt using a sewing machine.
- You can eat poppies to regain health and stamina. Poppies restore the same amount of both as the other flower crops in Stardew Valley.
