Despite its 2016 release, Stardew Valley continues to stand as a top-notch farming simulator. This is mainly due to the realistic portrayal of real-life situations in the charming Pelican Town, a huge array of plants, vegetables, and fruits to grow. One notable in-game item is Tea Leaves, which need to be unlocked before players can cultivate them on their farms.

While tea leaves may not have numerous applications in Stardew Valley, some players may still desire to obtain them. This guide is designed to lead players through the process of acquiring Tea Leaves in Stardew Valley and assist in making the most of them.

How to Unlock Tea Leaves in Stardew Valley

In order to grow Tea Leaves, players need Tea Saplings, but they must first obtain the recipe for Tea Saplings. While Tea Saplings aren't available for purchase at Pierre's or Joja Mart, there are two ways to obtain them in Stardew Valley.

Caroline's Two Heart Event

To unlock Tea Leaves, the simplest method is to reach 2 Friendship Hearts with Caroline and trigger her 2-heart event. After achieving a 2-heart friendship, players should enter the sunroom in her house, which will trigger a cutscene.

Following this event, players can visit her sunroom at any time to collect a tea bush. Additionally, the recipe for Tea Saplings will be sent in the mail the morning after the event.

The ingredients required to craft Tea Saplings are:

  • Wood x5
  • Fiber x5
  • Wild Seeds x2

It is important to note that this event will not trigger if players visit her on a rainy day or between the hours of 9 a.m. To 5 p.m.

How to Befriend Caroline

The easiest way to befriend Caroline and reach a Two Star Friendship with her is by giving her loved gifts, which include:

  • Summer Spangle
  • Fish Taco
  • Green Tea
  • Tropical Curry
  • All Universal Loves

Players who wish to skip the effort of becoming friends with Caroline can acquire Tea Saplings through the Traveling Cart in Stardew Valley. However, since this cart only visits Pelican Town twice a week, on Fridays and Sundays, players should be mindful and plan accordingly. Furthermore, it's important to note that the traveling cart's inventory rotates, so players may have to wait a while for Tea Saplings to become available in the stock.

Stardew Valley is available now for Android, iOS, PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
