The 1.6 update to Stardew Valley has added a few new items to many of the merchants throughout the game. Some of them are new ways to make artisan goods like smoked fish and dehydrated fruit, while others are more for fun and entertainment.

The fireworks added to Qi's Walnut Room are definitely part of the second category. While Qi has many useful items and recipes you can buy from his special store, fireworks won't add any new items or income to your farm. Still, they can be a fun way to enjoy an evening, especially if you're playing online with friends.

Stardew Valley: How To Get Skill Books

Skill Books in Stardew Valley are a source of knowledge and a progress booster for your character; here's how to get them.

How to Get Fireworks

Stardew Valley Fireworks Shop
The three fireworks types in Qi's shop in Stardew Valley.

Fireworks come in three colors (red, purple, and green), and they all appear in the same place: Qi's Walnut Room. To access this room, you'll need to do the following:

Once you find at least 100, the strange door on the west end of the island will let you enter. Feel free to spend Golden Walnuts as you go, because you don't need all 100 in your inventory for the door to open.

You can access Qi's store once you get in the door, but you'll need Qi Gems to buy any of the items. You can get these gems by completing special Qi Challenges, which are on the board to the left of Mr. Qi. Thankfully, you can complete any of the challenges to afford fireworks, since they only cost one gem each.

How to Set Off Fireworks

Stardew Valley Fireworks Setup
Setting up a fireworks display in Stardew Valley.

Setting up a fireworks display is simple. All you have to do is select the fireworks in your inventory, then hit the action button while you're facing an empty square. This will place the firework on the empty square, and a few seconds later it'll fly up and explode into a colorful pattern.

Fireworks don't occupy the space they're in, which means you can run straight through them. As such, you can create a single massive fireworks display by holding down the action button and running forward. For the best possible effect, be sure to run left or right so that the fireworks don't completely overlap with each other.

One other thing you can do with fireworks is sell them. Each one is worth 50g, and you can freely toss them into any shipping container. Fireworks don't count towards Stardew Valley's "Items Shipped" collection, but selling them is an easy way to convert Qi Gems into cash.
