Summary

  • A Stardew Valley fan gets creative, designing their own coffee shop in the game.
  • Players have noted the absence of key features like bathrooms in the Farm House and NPC homes, pushing for more expansions.
  • Despite missing elements, Stardew Valley continues to be a beloved indie gem with potential for even more growth in the future.

The beloved indie game Stardew Valley has been praised for its expansive worldbuilding, but the lack of an official coffee shop in its town center has inspired one fan to design their own charming cafe. Stardew Valley fan creations often take advantage of the game's impressive crafting and customization features, producing a number of fun showpieces like an in-game coffee shop.

First released in 2016, Stardew Valley is a farming life-sim game, beloved for its adorable pixel graphics, relatable characters, and wholesome storytelling. The game has received a number of big updates over the years, with developer Eric "ConcernedApe" Barone adding free content for fans to enjoy. However, many fans have lamented the lack of certain locales within the game's central town, resulting in some fans creating their own in-game shops.

Stardew Valley player WLOR decided that Pelican Town was in desperate need of a coffee shop, so they used the interior of a shed to design their own quaint cafe. The Stardrop Saloon in Stardew Valley serves as the main hub for the citizens of Pelican Town, though some players have felt the bar aesthetic is less than ideal for those wanting a more charming way to relax in the Valley. As such, WLOR creatively utilized a shed on their farm and transformed the small building into a cozy coffee shop. The simple yet welcoming design features coffee tones in its flooring and furniture, a bright fireplace surrounded by bookshelves, and a row of kegs ready to brew up freshly grown coffee beans. Fellow players have praised the design, with many hoping for an official cafe to one day make its way to Stardew Valley.

What's Missing in Stardew Valley?

With the release of Stardew Valley Update 1.6, there is now more content than ever for players to explore, but fans have noticed a number of potential features still missing from Pelican Town. Aside from the lack of a coffee shop, some fans have pointed out the absence of bathrooms in the Farm House and NPC homes, with others questioning the lack of expansions to the Spa and Mines. Others have lamented the lack of new isles to explore beyond Pelican Town, with Ginger Island remaining the only locale players can frequently visit beyond the main playable map area. However, Stardew Valley fans remain incredibly pleased with the game and its substantial updates, with many content to add in these missed features in their own unique way.

Stardew Valley has grown massively since its initial launch and is considered by many to be both one of the best indie games and one of the best life-sim games of all time. It is unknown at this time if ConceredApe will add more content beyond small patches to Update 1.6, but there is plenty of potential for new locales and customization features to be added to Stardew Valley.
