It’s been almost ten years since Stardew Valley’s debut, but there are still hidden Easter eggs and interactions that some fans may have never encountered. Despite certain characters being established in Stardew Valley, interactions between these characters are sometimes few and far between. Players hoping to unravel each and every thread in Stardew Valley have lots of ground to cover, considering the surprisingly wide scope of the hit simulation game.

Many of Stardew Valley’s rare character interactions require certain prerequisites. These conditions can range from occurring at certain events or festivals, weather conditions, time of day, and player gameplay. Stardew Valley also has a plethora of rare character interactions that are simply random. Catching new characters interacting is always exciting, especially if these interactions are rare. But seeing hidden NPCs interact is especially interesting.

Haunted Chocolatier Needs its Own Version of Stardew Valley's Most Useful Item

Haunted Chocolatier and Stardew Valley certainly have their differences, but both games should feature the farming simulator's most useful item.

Krobus and The Witch Cast a Shadow on Stardew Valley

Some Stardew Valley players may be surprised to know that Krobus and The Witch have an interaction. After all, some casual Stardew Valley players are unaware that Krobus and The Witch exist in the first place. Krobus is the more obvious character of the two NPCs, despite living down in the Sewers. He is always available in this location once players obtain the Rusty Key from Gunther. Unlocking Krobus is especially beneficial to farmers, considering his shop is full of oddities and rare items and is open all hours every day, even during festivals. The Wizard is aware of Krobus’ presence, but interactions between Krobus and villagers are incredibly rare.

On the flip side, The Witch has a haunting presence in Stardew Valley. Players never interact with the character, though she can be seen flying over the Farm and Pelican town on her broom. Though directly interacting with The Witch isn’t possible, players can stumble across both the Witch’s Swamp and the Witch’s Hunt after completing certain quests. The Wizard tasks players with the “Dark Talisman” quest, as he and the witch are ex-lovers. Upon completing Dark Talisman, players can move on to the “Goblin Problem” quest, which unlocks the Witch’s Hut. Players may not get to speak with The Witch, but they will get to speak with the Witch’s Henchman.

Krobus and The Witch's Conversation Have a Lot of Prerequisites

Given how flighty The Witch tends to be, it’s surprising that a direct interaction between her and Krobus is present in Stardew Valley. Players can see Korbus and The Witch briefly discussing something in the Secret Woods. However, the topic of their conversation remains unknown. Fitting for two of the most mysterious characters in Stardew Valley.

On top of The Witch already being a very shadowy and rare figure to spot, players can only see this brief interaction if numerous prerequisites are met. Of course, players must have met Krobus, meaning that the Sewers must be unlocked. However, simply meeting Krobus isn’t enough; a player’s Friendship Level with the friendly monster must be high. Location, weather, time, and season are also conditions that players have to account for. Not only does this interaction only occur during fall or winter, but it must also be a rainy Friday. If all of these prerequisites are met, and players are in the Secret Woods, only then will players get to see Krobus and The Witch.

There are six total prerequisites for this quick character interaction that some players are not even aware of. No wonder so many players have yet to see Krobus and The Witch talk face to face. The lore implications of their conversation also raise questions about their relationship, impressive considering how curious both Krobus and The Witch already are. Perhaps ConcernedApe will expand on both Krobus and The Witch in a future Stardew Valley update.
