In a major surprise to fans, Stardew Valley creator Eric "ConcernedApe" Barone has confirmed that the smash-hit farming life-sim game will in fact be getting another update, despite him previously denying the possibility. ConcernedApe has been focusing his development efforts on the upcoming Haunted Chocolatier, but it would seem the creator has a few more changes and improvements up his sleeve for Stardew Valley.
Since it first launched in 2016, Stardew Valley has received a number of major free updates, including additional dialogue, new explorable areas, more characters, and even seasonal outfits for the citizens of Pelican Town. Widely considered to be one of the best life-sim games of all time, Stardew Valley's recent Update 1.6, and subsequent bug-fixing patches, was believed to be the last update for some time. However, during a live appearance, ConcernedApe has reignited fan enthusiasm with a promise for more content.
Stardew Valley's Successor Likely Won't Be the Full Package at Launch, and That's Okay
The next game from Stardew Valley creator Eric "ConcernedApe" Barone likely won't have more content than its predecessor at launch, but that's okay.
ConcernedApe Announces New Stardew Valley Update Coming
During a talk at a Symphony of Seasons concert, ConcernedApe announced that he had a "secret" and confirmed that there will be another update for Stardew Valley. After the launch of Stardew Valley Update 1.6, ConcernedApe stated that he was unsure if he would be releasing more content because he wanted to focus all his efforts on Haunted Chocolatier. As such, the shocking announcement was met with a massive round of applause and cheering from the live audience, which was captured via a video by jillbobagginz. Their TikTok of the announcement already has over 43,000 likes at the time of writing, and fans across social media are heartily celebrating the welcome surprise of more content coming to Stardew Valley.
While Stardew Valley Update 1.6 launched for PC in March 2024, the major improvements and additions did not make their way to consoles until later in 2024. Supplemental bug fixes meant ConcernedApe dedicated more time than expected to the update, so audiences were understanding with his initial statements regarding putting Stardew Valley aside in favor of focusing on his other new project. And yet, the surprise reveal of another update coming to the beloved farming sim has once again earned the creator praise from the Stardew Valley fandom, with players once again looking forward to more changes coming to the game.
Despite no further details on what exactly the new update will include, fans have already begun predicting possible new content for Stardew Valley, including more map expansions, new crops to harvest, and perhaps even expanded NPC interactions. Interested players will want to stay tuned for any news and official updates from ConcernedApe on what they can expect with the latest update planned for Stardew Valley.
