Stardew Valley: Trout Derby Mini-Festival Guide

In addition to the fun seasonal festivals that occur throughout the year, Stardew Valley Update 1.6 has added two new fishing mini-festivals for players to participate in. One of these special events is called the Trout Derby Festival.

The Trout Derby Festival is a relaxed fishing event where you can enjoy the summer weather and take a break from farming for a weekend. Not only is it a great way to test your fishing skills, but this mini-festival also presents an incredible opportunity to win exclusive prizes. How To Win The Trout Derby Festival In Stardew Valley

The Trout Derby festival takes place on the 20th and 21st of Summer, starting sharply at 6:10 AM. Like other festival announcements, you will receive a notification before this event begins.

During these two days, a fisherman sets up a booth near the river close to Marnie’s Ranch in the Cindersap Forest. The main activity in the Trout Derby festival is to fish in the river and catch Rainbow Trout.

Rainbow Trout is a fairly common fish found swimming around the Cindersap Forest on sunny Summer days. As such, it’s not that hard to catch one if you’re familiar with the mechanics of fishing in Stardew Valley.

Each time you catch a Rainbow Trout or a Treasure Chest, there is a small chance to get a Golden Tag. Golden tags can be traded with the fisherman in the tent to receive rewards.

Since the Trout Derby is a mini-festival, shops and homes throughout Pelican Town remain open and time continues to pass normally.

All Trout Derby Rewards in Stardew Valley

When you hand a Golden Tag to the fisherman, you will receive different rewards from him. The first prize you receive will always be a Tent Kit. Afterward, you will randomly get one of the possible rewards listed below.

The first prize is always randomly selected. However, the next prize is guaranteed to follow the sequence of this list, meaning you will be rewarded with one Bucket Hat after three Omni Geodes.

Like other festivals in Stardew Valley, the Trout Derby runs every year. Even if you don’t get the desired reward, you can always try your luck next year.
