Provided another Stardew Valley update comes out after 1.6, there is already a perfect date in the future for it to launch. Stardew Valley has proven to be an enduring game, receiving content updates years after its initial release, and cultivating an enthusiastic fanbase to boot. Both of these factors combined mean that it would be no surprise for another content update to show up at some point. The main question may be when such an update would come out. However, looking into the future, there is one date that would be excellent for a Stardew Valley update.

There's a chance for more Stardew Valley updates according to the game's creator, ConcernedApe. Over the course of several updates, the game has grown substantially from where it started. From the addition of Emily and Shane as marriage candidates in 1.1 to 1.6 introducing the Desert Festival, every major update has granted players an impressive amount of content. The fact that update 1.6 came out while ConcernedApe was working on his next project, Haunted Chocolatier, made it even more of a pleasant surprise for fans. More importantly, it made it clear that Stardew Valley still had hope to grow in the future through updates.

Stardew Valley Could Cap Off its Tenth Anniversary With its Next Update

Stardew Valley's 10th Anniversary Warrants Something Special

Given how impressive the success of Stardew Valley has been, it can be easy to forget that the game has been out for less than a decade. The game came out on February 26, 2016, and has grown into one of the biggest indie games on record. With its tenth anniversary coming up, there's reason to speculate on something being done in honor of that milestone. There are a wide variety of options for such an event, but one potential idea stands out. February 26, 2026, the ten-year anniversary of Stardew Valley, would be a fantastic time for Update 1.7 to be released.

Update 1.7 Could Capitalize on Stardew Valley's Anniversary

One of the best ways to have a celebration for Stardew Valley would be to drop a major update on the day of its ten-year anniversary. Even though several major patches have come out, they are still highly anticipated by the fandom, especially with how many exciting additions to the game have come from them. An anniversary patch could even hold an incredibly consequential new feature or a long-awaited change. Considering how extensively 1.6 changed the game, the sky's the limit for what 1.7 could bring. Whatever the size, a new patch on Stardew Valley's anniversary would make for an amazing anniversary present.

Haunted Chocolatier's Development Could Leap Forward if Stardew Valley's Update Waits

An early 2026 patch would also hold another advantage. The development of Haunted Chocolatier could benefit from Stardew Valley's updates taking a break until 2026. While a Stardew Valley patch would obviously require plenty of work in advance, setting its date in the future could lead to Haunted Chocolatier getting a significant push in the meantime. Fans could get more sneak peeks at Haunted Chocolatier in 2025 as a result, or perhaps the game could even come out in that timeframe. Leaving some time to wait for Stardew Valley's next update could be incredibly beneficial to Haunted Chocolatier's development schedule.

Update 1.7 of Stardew Valley would undoubtedly be celebrated, especially if it came on its anniversary. Stardew Valley's next update dropping on that date would work out for a variety of reasons. It's a special occasion for the game, and it would give Haunted Chocolatier some time to potentially get some extra spotlight. Of course, the actual content of Update 1.7 would be important as well, but ConcernedApe's track record should give fans plenty of confidence. If Update 1.7 is in the cards for Stardew Valley, it could be an excellent tenth-anniversary present.
