With over 1,000 traversable planets, Starfield has one of the biggest maps in gaming history. However, not all of these planets are home to civilized cities like the ones showcased in pre-release teaser trailers. In reality, the game features only a few major capitals that players can visit.

Since cities are a good place to acquire new side quests, sell items, and upgrade ships, players will want to find these places as soon as possible. Below is a comprehensive list of these significant cities in Starfield, along with their precise coordinates to aid in locating them in game.

As Starfield’s largest metropolis, New Atlantis is Jemison’s capital. The city serves as the United Colonies headquarters and is home to people from all other planets and star systems. Since New Atlantis is a key part of the story, players will find it upon completing the first main quest, One Small Step.

How to find: Visit Jemison in the Alpha Centauri star system or complete the first main quest.

Akila

Akila City is the capital of planet Akila in the Cheyenne star system, and it's where the Freestar Collective calls home. What makes Akila unique is that it has tall walls surrounding it. This is because the planet is filled with dangerous creatures called Ashta. They look like wolverines and attack any other living forms they come across.

How to find: Visit the planet Akila in the Cheyenne system or complete The Empty Nest quest.

Neon

Also known as the “Pleasure City,” Neon is the equivalent of Las Vegas in outer space. This vibrant city boasts renowned casinos and bars, providing visitors with a delightful galactic experience. As per Starfield's lore, Neon previously thrived as a fishing hub until influential corporations discovered a unique fish with psychotropic qualities and capitalized on it.

How to find: Visit the planet Volii Alpha in the Vol II system or complete the All That Money Can Buy quest.

The Key

Although not an actual city, The Key is the fourth major settlement in Starfield. It's a space station located near Suvorov in the Kryx star system. What sets The Key apart is that it's home to the Crimson Fleet faction, which makes it a large hub for intergalactic piracy. (To traverse this location safely, players will need to join the pirates’ faction and complete their missions.)

How to find: Visit the planet Suvorov in the Kryx star system.
