Although Starfield may be trying to forge its own trail and spawn a new Bethesda franchise, it also does not seem afraid to crossover with what has come before. Thanks to the studio's famous Creation Club, Starfield players are being treated to a brand-new crossover adventure with the extremely popular Doom franchise. While it may not have been a game-changer, a crossover like this should just be the start of what players get to see from this sci-fi RPG.
Over the years, Bethesda Softworks has built itself quite an impressive catalog of franchises, with the likes of Fallout, The Elder Scrolls, Doom, Dishonored, and more recently, titles such as Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. There have been a plethora of unique experiences for players to delve into, and through Starfield's Creation Club, those adventures could be expanded into a whole new galaxy. There could be cosmetics, characters, and even quests inspired by these tales. If done well, these extra collaborations could help turn Starfield into a massive celebration of Bethesda's history.
Starfield Adding One Weapon Type Could Be The Gateway to an Unforgettable World
Starfield has a variety of fun and unique weapons to choose from, but a specific type could open the door to greater possibilities.
Starfield Could House Countless Crossover Adventures
Starfield x Doom is a Fantastic Start
Announced in early 2024, Starfield players have finally gotten their hands on a brand-new piece of Doom crossover content. Titled At Hell's Gate, this free creation gives them a new quest inspired by the iconic franchise. Along with that, players are also able to obtain weapons and cosmetics that feel ripped straight from the FPS. While it may not be the longest quest in the world, it's hard not to notice its potential.
Doom is hardly the first crossover that the Creation Club has provided Starfield, but it feels different. Not only does it come as Doom: The Dark Ages looms, but it has also got Bethesda's official stamp of approval. Plus, it comes at no additional cost. Because of that, far more eyes are on it than ever before, and now that the company has shown its willingness to promote this type of content, it should go all in on the concept.
The Creation Club is the Perfect Outlet for More Bethesda Crossovers
There are so many different Bethesda franchises that could fit right into the world of Starfield if given the chance. A Fallout-inspired quest could take players on a brand-new Vault-Tec adventure, The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim could lend itself to a fantastical and magical piece of content, Dishonored could put a mysterious new spin on the sci-fi RPG, and the Prey franchise is just waiting around to be tapped further. If the studio wanted to, it could even use this form of content as a way to market The Elder Scrolls 6 or push players to Fallout 76.
The content itself would likely have to be on the scale of this Doom crossover, as these are community-created rather than official Bethesda creations. That means that they would probably just come in the form of a simple quest chain and a slew of tie-in cosmetics. If done well, though, these additions could still be some fun little pieces of side content. Plus, if Bethesda truly wanted to take it to the next level, then it could help expand said content even further with much larger tales. And if these team-ups continue to be free, players will likely flock to the game.
Starfield feels like the perfect place to delve into all kinds of crossover experiences thanks to its massive galaxy of planets. Not only could there be smaller quests, but the game could be home to much larger narratives that feel ripped straight from the worlds of other titles. Of course, the focus with post-launch stories should be on further expanding Starfield's own lore, but alongside that could come so many more exciting tie-in adventures, bringing the worlds of Bethesda closer together than ever before.
