Players will try out dozens of weapons while exploring the galaxy in Starfield. There are all sorts of fun weapons, and gamers won't be able to tell which ones suit them most right away, so they'll have to test them on the battlefield and see. However, Starfield isn't all about fighting, and there are some situations in which players probably shouldn't be waving guns around.
When first trying out the game, players might not be accustomed to the controls right away, so they could have a hard time figuring out how to perform certain actions. This guide will show players how they can unequip their weapons in Starfield so that they can simply put them away when they're not needed.
How to Equip a Weapon
When players find themselves in a fight in Starfield, they won't want to struggle to figure out the controls and how they can get their weapon in their hands quickly, so it's important to memorize how to do it from the get-go. Here are the three ways that players can equip a weapon:
- Press the Shoot button (RT on Xbox, left button click on PC )
- Press the Target button (LT on Xbox, right button click on PC)
- Press the Reload button (X on Xbox, R on PC)
Before getting out a weapon, gamers can pause the game to see which weapons they have selected beforehand and will equip. Players can change the weapon that they'll use by altering it in the Weapons category of their inventory. They can also select it directly from their item wheel, but in order to do this, they must first favorite the weapon.
How to Unequip a Weapon
While there are several ways to equip a weapon in Starfield, there's only one way to holster it. In order to put away their weapon in Starfield, players must press and hold the Reload button. Gamers that haven't changed their bindings can press and hold X on Xbox and R on PC.
Those that have changed their key binds before can check what they've set their Reload button to by pausing the game, opening the Settings tab in the System menu, and selecting the Bindings section. The "Reload/Sheathe Weapon" options determines the controls for this action. Players who aren't happy with the game's default controls can change them freely in this menu.
Starfield is now available for PC and Xbox Series X/S.
