There are plenty of out-of-this-world locations that players can visit in Starfield, but also a handful that were inspired by real-world places, objects, and events. A great example of this is the Opportunity Rover, which can be found in the very same location where it spent 14 years gathering data for NASA all those years ago.

Unfortunately, before players can find the Opportunity Rover in Starfield and the snow globe that's sat upon it, they'll first need to interact with an exhibit at a late-game location. Doing so will add finding the Opportunity Rover to the player's list of activities, at which point, they'll be able to head on over to Mars and check it out.

Warning: This guide contains mild spoilers for Starfield's main story by referencing a location that players will visit toward the end of the game.

It appears as though the prompt needed to find the Opportunity Rover in Starfield is missable at the time of writing, so players should be sure to trigger it on their first visit to the location.

How to Find the Opportunity Rover on Mars

In order to find the Opportunity Rover in Starfield, players will first need to interact with the MER Program exhibit during their first visit to the NASA Launch Tower. It's over on the left-hand side of the lobby area, where players will find a bunch of other exhibits scattered around. Although it is possible to return to the NASA Launch Tower after completing the Unearthed main story mission, players won't be able to reach the area with all of the exhibits; at least not at the time of writing, anyway.

After checking out the exhibit, players will get a notification to let them know that looking for the Opportunity Rover on Mars has been added to their list of activities. Starfield doesn't allow players to fast-travel while inside buildings, so they'll either need to turn around and head back outside or plow on and complete the mission. After doing so, they'll be free to open up their map of Mars and look for the Opportunity Rover landing site, which will appear to the south of Cydonia.

Players won't find much when they land on the surface of the planet, just a bunch of rocks and craters and the Opportunity Rover itself. Sat on the top of it is the Opportunity snow globe, which is one of several collectibles that players can find in Starfield. There's no achievement for finding them all, but some players will likely take pride in doing so nonetheless.

Starfield is available now for PC and Xbox Series X|S.
