Starfield introduces players to the Starborn, a mysterious group of beings with immense power beyond the comprehension of normal humans. Yet, what are the Starborn? To answer that here would be a Starfield spoiler, so it’s best to focus instead on their technology; their outfits, and ships. The Starborn look great, their ships seem great, and players might want to know how to get their hands on them.
The Starborn has such a unique ship and outfit, but there is a way to get it. Players can find out how to get the Starborn ship in Starfield through just a single method, although, some players might not like what they have to do because there’s no going back once the deed is done.
Spoilers ahead for Starfield.
Can You Steal Starborn Ships?
As players progress past the High Price to Pay Starfield main quest, they will be given the pieces of the Artifacts that they have collected, and given the choice to store them on their person, ship, or outpost of choice. If this formation of Artifacts known as the Artillery is kept safely on the ship or the player’s inventory, they will encounter Starborn at random locations throughout the galaxy.
Players might marvel at their ship, but they won’t have a lot of time to do so, as the Starborn will open fire immediately. Upon damaging their engines, players might wonder if they can take their ship, but it is not possible to steal the Starborn ship in Starfield, and all attempts to dock will be met with a message saying it’s not possible or that the ship is inaccessible. Even if players are friendly with a Starborn or two, stealing or commandeering their ship just is not possible. Therefore, there’s just one way to get the Starborn ship.
How To Get The Starborn Ship
If players want the Starborn Ship, they’re going to need to enter New Game Plus. When players embark on a journey through New Game Plus, they will receive their first Starborn ship. Going through New Game Plus may not be to everyone’s taste, due to the fact that they are essentially starting again, but the allure of a Starborn ship is too high to ignore, especially with its perks, unique sound, and ship mechanics, as well as the fact that United Colony ships might comment on the unusual ship.
The advantages of having a Starborn ship come from its completely unique design, intricate, and like no other. As detailed as the Ship Builder is, it’s impossible to recreate it, due to the way the Starborn ship acts and flies. The stats of the Starborn Guardian ship are stellar, and the first version of it will be the following:
|
Reactor |
Class A – 22 |
|
Crew Capacity |
5 |
|
Jump Distance |
30 LY |
|
Shield |
630 |
|
Sol Lasers |
24 |
|
Torpedoes |
70 |
|
Hull |
649 |
|
Cargo Capacity |
950 |
With each time players enter New Game Plus, they will receive the same design for their Starborn Guardian ship, but the stats will increase. Each new version of the Starborn Guardian will improve the stats of the last, but there are some pieces of the ship that will remain unchanged:
- Reactor
- Crew Capacity
- Fuel
- Jump Distance
- Cargo Capacity
The Starborn Guardian ship is perfect for players who want a truly unique ship to show off that they’ve completed the game. However, it may not be to the taste of everyone as it doesn’t allow much creative choice.
How To Get Starborn Armor
The Starborn armor is obtained in the same way as the Starborn Guardian ship. Players need to cross into New Game Plus, and every time they do, they will receive both a new ship and a new outfit. However, the Starborn armor is separate from the Starborn Guardian in the fact that each iteration of the armor will change design. This can be great for the fashion collectors out there who want something more unique than just an astronaut spacesuit.
Each version of this Starborn spacesuit comes with its own bonuses. Every suit has an increased benefit for its PHYS, ENGY, EM, Thermal, Corrosive, Airborne, and Radiation stats, so the more players enter New Game Plus, the more they will earn upgrades to fight their opponents across the galaxy. More interestingly, the perks of each Spacesuit differ, meaning players can find themselves with some truly unique outfits as they venture through yet a new universe with each New Game Plus entry.
There are ten suits, each with their own stats and names.

The styles of the Starborn outfits are great to witness, as some are more in line with the Starborn players have seen before, such as the Emissary and the Hunter. However, others, are different from both of these characters, and they can give players a more slimline look that makes players seem far more unique than the other characters, like a futuristic military garb. These Starborn spacesuits come with everything players need, meaning players cannot equip a Boostpack or Helmet, as the Spacesuit comes equipped as one set.
Starfield is available now for PC and Xbox Series X|S.
