It's clear that a lot of care and attention went into the design of Starfield, with many of the locations that players visit featuring intricate details that help to make the experience that much more immersive. This is particularly evident while exploring old space stations and science facilities, with many of these locations doing an excellent job of emphasizing the game's sci-fi aesthetic.
In many of these areas, Starfield players will come across large security doors that may at first seem like little more than set dressing. However, those who look a little closer will soon realize that these Emergency Cuttable Walls can in fact be opened, though not in the usual way. Players will need to do a bit of work before they can enter, but once they know what they're doing, it becomes like second nature.
How to Open Emergency Cuttable Walls in Starfield
If players look closely, they'll see that the red section of every Emergency Cuttable Wall has a metal rod in each of the four corners. To open it, all they'll need to do is cut these four pins, as per the information written on the door. They can do this with a Cutter if they happen to have one to hand, but it's also possible to blast them with a shotgun or even just hit them with a melee weapon until they break and the door falls backward.
Opening Emergency Cuttable Walls in Starfield often leads to areas with low gravity, meaning that once players have opened them, they'll need to be ready to enter low grav mode. In these kinds of environments, they'll need to use their boost pack in order to navigate, which is actually fairly simple once players start to get the hang of it.
As for where players can find Emergency Cuttable Walls, they show up in several of Starfield's main story missions, more so during the second half of the game. There are certain missions in which players will have to knock down a few of them in order to progress, so they'll need to learn how to open Emergency Cuttable Walls in Starfield at one point or another.
Other Types of Destructible Walls in Starfield
Emergency Cuttable Walls aren't the only type of walls that players can knock down, with the game also boasting walls made of rock and ice. These can also be destroyed using Starfield's guns and melee weapons and will typically guide players toward storage crates and other goodies. They're a bit less common and a lot more easy to miss though, so players should keep their eyes peeled as they explore.
Starfield is available now for PC and Xbox Series X|S.
