Bethesda has released a big new update for open world sci-fi RPG Starfield that coincides with the release of its long-awaited Shattered Space expansion. Starfield fans have been waiting quite a long time for its Shattered Space expansion, available to anyone that owns the Premium version of the game or that purchased the DLC outright.

Starfield's Shattered Space expansion has serious cosmic horror vibes, giving players the chance to explore House Va'ruun's home world of Va'ruun'kai. House Va'ruun has stood out as one of the more mysterious factions in Starfield, and so the opportunity to see what they're all about is one that many fans of the game have been excited about. Luckily, Starfield's Shattered Space expansion is now live, and so those interested can jump back into the game and see everything the new DLC has to offer.

To go along with the new Shattered Space DLC is a fresh update for Starfield. Update 1.14.70 is available for Starfield fans to download right now, with Bethesda releasing detailed patch notes detailing everything it brings to the table. The new Starfield update improves the Creation Kit, fixes lingering bugs, addresses lighting issues, and improves many of the game's quests. While the substantial new content for Starfield is locked behind the Shattered Space DLC, the free update should still make the game better for all playing it, regardless if they've picked up the DLC or not.

While Starfield was a day one Xbox Game Pass game at the time of its launch last year, the same can't be said for the Shattered Space expansion. Those interested in playing through Starfield's Shattered Space DLC will need to upgrade to the Premium version of the game or buy the DLC. The DLC typically retails for $29.99, while the Premium upgrade is $34.99 but comes with some added goodies. Currently, Xbox Game Pass subscribers can take advantage of discounts that bring the prices down to $26.99 and $31.49, respectively.

With Starfield's Shattered Space DLC having just recently launched, it remains to be seen what fans think of the expansion. Bethesda has a long history of putting out high-quality expansions for its games, and so it will definitely be interesting to see what people think about Shattered Space. Between the new DLC and other recent additions to the game like the REV-8 land vehicle, now really is the perfect time to jump back into Starfield.
