With Bethesda set to launch its first new intellectual property in over 25 years, old-school fans are seeking information about the release of Starfield on previous-generation consoles. As the highly anticipated Microsoft-exclusive game, Starfield is confirmed to arrive on Xbox Series X/S consoles, as well as Windows 10 and 11 PCs this September.
However, due to the game's demanding requirements, concerns have arisen among some fans regarding Starfield's compatibility with the Xbox One console. The news brings both good and bad tidings: an official release of Starfield on Xbox One is not on the horizon. Nevertheless, an easy and legitimate workaround exists, allowing gamers to experience Starfield on their Xbox One consoles.
Can Starfield Be Played on Xbox One?
Starfield is available on Xbox One through Game Pass Ultimate’s Cloud Gaming. To play Bethesda’s anticipated RPG, Xbox One owners should sign up for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and stream the game at launch via Microsoft’s cloud service.
The gameplay experience of Starfield on Xbox One will be influenced by players' internet connection. However, the game's fixed frame rate of 30fps may assist in ensuring smooth performance on the previous-generation Xbox console.

How to Play Starfield on Xbox One
To play Starfield on Xbox One, players will need to subscribe to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. This subscription will allow them to stream the game without the need to install it.
Technically, Xbox One’s specs are not compatible with Starfield’s requirements—especially considering that Starfield requires an SSD to run. But Xbox Cloud Gaming will let this previous-gen console run Bethesda’s most ambitious game with little to no performance issues.
Note that Starfield won’t get an official Xbox One release, and the game is set only to hit new-gen consoles (Series X & S) and Windows 10 or 11 PCs.
How to Get Starfield’s Early Access on Xbox One
It’s unclear whether Starfield will include the 5-day early access on Xbox Cloud Gaming. However, since early access is granted to Premium and Constellation Edition owners, Xbox One players are unlikely to access Starfield early. The only viable option for them is to wait for the launch date and get Starfield as a day-one release on Xbox Cloud Gaming.
Starfield will be available on September 6, 2023, for Xbox Series X|S and Windows 10/11 PCs.
