  • Recent updates to the Bethesda Creation Kit website suggest Starfield may be released on PS5.
  • Microsoft's shift to releasing some of its games on PS5 suggests it might bring Starfield to other platforms.
  • Phil Spencer's previous statement indicates Microsoft is open to releasing Starfield on PS5, giving fans hope.

Recent updates to the Bethesda Creation Kit website may point toward Starfield being released on PS5 sometime in the future. Starfield was released a few years back as an Xbox console exclusive, leaving many PlayStation owners wondering when, if ever, the game would see a release on the PS5.

Microsoft's acquisition of ZeniMax Media in March 2021 led many to question whether the company's IPs would remain exclusive to Xbox. Since then, a variety of games have become available or are set to come to PlayStation, including Deathloop, which is already available, and Indiana Jones and The Great Circle, which is coming later this year. However, one notable exclusion was one of 2023's most anticipated releases, Starfield. For now, Microsoft hasn't shared any updates regarding the game being available on platforms other than Xbox and PC. Outside of PlayStation, recent leaks may have pointed to a number of Xbox games coming to Nintendo Switch 2, including Starfield. That being said, recent developments may suggest that the game could head to PS5 in the future.

Starfield Gets Huge Compliment From God of War Co-Creator

Bethesda's controversial RPG Starfield comes in for some high praise from God of War co-creator, David Jaffe.

Starfield's release on PS5 may be soon after a PlayStation logo was spotted in the supported platforms list on Bethesda's Creation Kit website. Reddit user Dollar99Man noticed the small update and shared their findings on the Starfield subreddit. These findings involved the PlayStation logo being seen on the "Falkland Systems Ship Services" Creation Club page, though at the time of writing, it had been removed.

Evidence Suggests Starfield Might be Coming to PS5

Even beyond the PlayStation logo appearing on the Creation Kit site, there are a few other things that point toward a possible PS5 release for Starfield. First, Microsoft has been gradually releasing its games on the console over time. As mentioned, some previously exclusive titles have been released on PS5, with more still to come. This shows a willingness to bring Microsoft-owned games to other platforms. Perhaps the biggest piece of evidence comes from Phil Spencer, who recently stated that he saw no reason not to release Starfield on PS5. While this statement alone doesn't confirm Starfield is heading to PS5, it at least indicates that Microsoft is open to the possibility.

Despite a long wait, the evidence suggests that fans may see Starfield released on the PS5 sooner rather than later. Gamers on the PlayStation platform have been waiting for Starfield for quite some time, with many thinking the day might never come. In any case, fans should have plenty to look forward to in the future, as Starfield is set to continue receiving updates. Whether this is in the form of larger DLCs like Shattered Space or smaller updates like the buggy, these updates might not be exclusive to Xbox for much longer.
