Summary
- Open-world crafting games like Starfield have a wide variety of rare resources that players need for crafting, such as Vytinium and High-Tensile Spidroin.
- Acquiring rare resources like Neurologic and Rothicite Magnet can be challenging, requiring higher levels and specific skills. Players can try purchasing them from vendors, but availability is limited.
- The outpost system in Starfield relies on rare manufactured components like Aldumite Drilling Rig and Tasine Superconductor. Players can either craft them with the required skills or buy them from vendors, but they are not easily available.
Open-world games like Starfield with a crafting component can often have a truly overwhelming number of different resources for players to use in crafting various items. Some of these items are common enough that players end up with far too many to ever use, but sometimes a game will include some extremely rare components that many players will never even see, though not for lack of trying.
Starfield: Complete Star Map
A fully compiled list of all Starfield's star systems, planets, and moons and the resources, flora, fauna, and factions that can be found in each.
Starfield is no different from many other franchises in this respect, as it has four different tiers of rarity for its resources. Crafting can be an important source of XP, so it pays to stay well-stocked and acquire rare resources whenever possible.
10 Vytinium
Vytinium in Starfield is a rare inorganic resource required as a component for the crafting of the rare manufactured component, the Vytinium Fuel Rod. This rare material is a high-level resource that is found on the planet, Decaran VII-b.
Decaran is a high-level system, so any lower-level players looking for a quick and easy source of Vytinium might want to steer clear. Vytinium is also found at certain vendors, although it has a low chance of appearing and doesn't appear until higher levels.
9 High-Tensile Spidroin
High-Tensile Spidroin is a really useful component required by Starfield's spacesuits and helmets to really make the most out of their available mods. This rare manufactured resource is hard to find, being most easily acquired by purchasing it from vendors.
This strategy for finding it relies on players being of a high enough level for it to populate vendors' lists, although it can also be found out in the world at various different locations.
8 Neurologic
Neurologic is a rare organic resource used in the creation of two powerful Aid items, Neurajack and Supermassive Black Heart. Neurajack is a useful item that helps players make the most of the research system in the game. Unfortunately, Neurologic is a rare resource found at higher levels.
It's possible to find Neurologic while out exploring, but the easiest way of acquiring it is by purchasing it from a vendor. However, it tends not to appear in vendors' lists until later levels, making it hard to find. For players who've invested in the relevant outpost skills, however, it can be farmed using a Greenhouse or the appropriate Animal Husbandry skills.
7 Rothicite Magnet
The Rothicite Magnet requires the rare resource, rothicite, to create, and has only a very low chance of appearing at vendors. This makes it a very difficult item to acquire, especially since the ability to craft it is gated behind several higher-level skills.
It, unfortunately, doesn't appear at vendors until later levels, meaning players might be waiting quite a while to use it in the outpost system. Fortunately, it's only used in one recipe for high-level reactors, so it isn't completely essential.
6 Aldumite Drilling Rig
Many of the rarest resources in Starfield are those created using rare crafting ingredients. The Aldumite Drilling Rig is one such item, requiring the rare inorganic resource aldumite for its creation. As these crafting ingredients are themselves rare resources, and the ability to craft rare manufactured components is gated behind skills, these crafted materials are some of the most difficult to acquire in all of the Settled Systems.
One of the easiest ways to acquire the Aldumite Drilling Rig is to purchase it from a vendor, but it has a low chance of appearing even there.
5 Tasine Superconductor
The Tasine Superconductor is a rare manufactured component used primarily in creating objects in Starfield's outpost system. This rare object is used to create advanced laser turrets and reactors for power generation, as well as in research projects, making it a useful addition to any outpost-focused player's inventory.
Unfortunately, it's a very difficult item to find if a player lacks the required skills and components to craft it. Like many rare manufactured components, it's easier to buy than to find or create, but even then, it suffers from low availability due to its low chance of appearing, even then only at higher levels.
4 Substrate Molecule Sieve
The Substrate Molecule Sieve is a rare manufactured component that requires many rare components to even craft it. And that's after players have unlocked the relevant skill levels in a number of different skills. The Substrate Molecule Sieve is used in a wide array of different outpost objects, however, meaning it's a very useful item indeed.
The easiest way to find the Substrate Molecule Sieve is to purchase it from a vendor, especially for players without the relevant crafting skills.
3 Veryl-Treated Manifold
The Veryl-Treated Manifold is a rare manufactured component in Starfield that is required for the creation of many advanced resource extractors in the outpost system. As such it's a key component for many players wishing to fully exploit Starfield's complex outpost and resource-gathering systems.
Unfortunately, it's difficult to craft and only appears rarely at vendors when players reach higher levels.
2 Indicite Wafer
Indicite Wafer has a number of uses in the outpost system, in the crafting of other rare manufactured resources such as the Vytinium Fuel Rod, and in the spacesuit and helmet modding system. This is a tricky item to acquire in Starfield, as it's only got a low chance to appear at vendors, and even then only at higher levels.
Starfield: Where to Get Indicite Wafer
Indicite Wafers are rare components that are used for some of Starfield's more complex construction and research projects.
It can be crafted but is gated behind several skills and requires rare components to even begin, making it much easier to purchase it whenever it appears in a vendor's list.
1 Vytinium Fuel Rod
The Vytinium Fuel Rod is an extremely rare manufactured component in Starfield. This object requires another rare manufactured component to craft, the Indicite Wafer, which itself requires the rare inorganic resource, Indicite. And that's on top of needing another rare inorganic resource, Vytinium.
The Vytinium Fuel Rod is only used in one outpost object and in one research project used to create that object, so its relative lack of availability isn't so bad. Players' best option for finding a Vytinium Fuel Rod is through vendors at the Crimson Fleet's Key.
