Traits play an important role in Starfield, with most of them serving as double-edged swords. There are a few that have little to no downsides though, one of which is called Raised Universal. Choosing this Trait will allow players to access a special chest in New Atlantis, providing them with a small yet welcome boost as they begin their interstellar adventure.

Better still, Starfield players are free to remove the Raised Universal Trait immediately after opening up the Sanctum Universum chest, meaning that there are no real downsides to choosing this Trait. This guide will go over all of the essential details, including how to find the Sanctum Universum, what's inside the chest, and how to remove Raised Universal once the chest has been opened.

Where to Find the Sanctum Universum in Starfield

To find the Sanctum Universum, players should ride the NAT to the MAST District of New Atlantis. After alighting from the train, they'll want to make their way up the ramp in front of them until they find themselves in an outdoor area. From here, they need to take a left and then keep heading straight past some trees and water features until they come to a single-story building with gold trim. This is the Sanctum Universum.

Upon heading inside the Sanctum Universum, players should take a left, where they'll find a yellow chest up against the outer wall of an office. As with the chest at the House of the Enlightened, the Sanctum Universum chest will only appear if players selected the Raised Universal Trait. Anyone who is having trouble finding the chest or the Sanctum Universum can refer to the video above.

What's Inside the Sanctum Universum Chest?

The Sanctum Universum chest contains some consumable items as well as a few books. Players will also find the Neocity Urbanwear; a green outfit that grants a 5% bonus to 02 Recovery. Nothing inside the chest is all that valuable, but considering it's effectively free loot, there's a strong argument to be made for choosing the Raised Universal Trait.

How to Remove the Raised Universal Trait

After helping themselves to the contents of the chest, players may wish to remove the Raised Universal Trait, which is thankfully pretty easy. All they'll need to do is speak with Keeper Aquilus and then choose the "[Raised Universal] I know I was raised in the Sanctum. But I'm not sure I believe anymore" option. After talking a little more, they'll then be given the option to remove the trait by choosing the "[Remove Raised Universal Trait permanently] I'm sorry. I just don't believe" option.

Raised Universal vs. Raised Enlightened

Regardless of whether they choose Raised Universal or Raised Enlightened, Starfield players will gain access to a special chest. Neither contains anything particularly valuable in the long run though, so those trying to decide which is the best religion in Starfield may instead want to focus on their ideologies. Followers of the Sanctum Universum believe that god exists somewhere in the universe and hope to one day find them while out exploring the stars. The Enlightened are effectively atheists, preferring to focus on the bonds that tie all of humanity together.

Starfield is available now for PC and Xbox Series X|S.
