Starfield: Shattered Space Review
Starfield's Shattered Space expansion is weighed down by bugs and is ultimately a disappointment compared to the base game.
Starfield Players Praise One Nalada Bradi Dialogue Line in Shattered Space
One such detail is a line of dialogue that the protagonist can use after meeting Nalada Bradi, the vendor at the Va'ruun Depository. While she will immediately start opening up about her problems after the player first talks to her, one of the potential responses to her forwardness is to say "I don't need to hear your life story, I'd just like to buy some goods." This response appears to have elicited a chuckle out of quite a few Starfield players, as a vocal section of the fandom said as much after it emerged on the front page of the game's largest subreddit in early October 2024.
Those who managed to miss this quirky exchange can find the Va'ruun Depository in central Dazra, the capital of House Va'ruun located on the new Starfield: Shattered Space planet of Va'ruun'kai. Specifically, the store is situated on the eastern side of the square that's to the immediate north of the Dazra spaceship landing site, with the two being separated by a single wall. Nalada Bradi resides within, selling nearly two dozen resources and materials, as well as a trio of unique lab outfits, in addition to numerous healing items.
Nalada Bradi Offers One of the Best Side Quests in Starfield: Shattered Space
While shutting down her attempts at oversharing can be fun, listening to Nalada's problems afterward would still be a good idea, as she will point the player in the direction of Sympathy for the Living. This mission has so far been widely regarded as one of the best side quests in Shattered Space that fully embraces its horror elements and awards players with a generous 30% vendor discount at the Va'ruun Depository, among other rewards.
I don't need to hear your life story, I'd just like to buy some goods.
And while many players appear to be loving the sarcastic response to Nalada, the expansion's overall writing has also been the subject of some complaints. E.g., a vocal section of the fandom has criticized Starfield: Shattered Space for being yet another story about a closed faction that immediately becomes dependent on the protagonist from the second it meets them, labeling this premise as uninspired.
