Summary

  • Gamers are using Starfield's ship-building mechanics to create unique character roleplay experiences.
  • Players are creating massive and functional ships in Starfield, like a space trucker design with a flying ship.

A Starfield player online has transformed their character into a space trucker with an incredible ship design. Gamers are taking Starfield ship creations to the next level, using them to help roleplay certain types of characters.

Since the launch of Starfield, plenty about the game has proven to be controversial. However, the one thing that just about everyone agrees lived up to the hype is the ship-building mechanics. Bethesda touted it as a massive part of the game, and it was right. These tools give players the ability to build just about anything they can imagine, with gamers using them in a variety of different ways. There was even one Starfield player who turned their ship into Shrek, which is just about as cursed as it sounds. Given the level of depth in the ship-building mechanics, players will be finding new tricks to enhance their creations for years to come.

Redditor lililiilillil shared their epic Starfield ship build, which has been designed to look like a massive truck. It's the REV-8 rover next to the ship that puts into perspective how massive this ship build is, dwarfing the land vehicle. Incredibly, the ship actually functions, with one image showing what it looks like while flying through space. It looks hilarious, although gamers in the thread were too caught up in how incredibly accurate the build was to notice.

Starfield Space Trucker Ship Design

Many gamers in the thread made reference to the classic film Space Truckers, which is a fair comparison. Another suggested that they could even add to the build by putting a flatbed trailer with a small ship on it, with lililiilillil describing it as a "great idea." Some were so surprised by how complex the build was that they were convinced it could even be a Starfield ship mod, although this isn't the case here.

It will be very interesting to see what the future holds for Starfield. Both the base game and the Shattered Space expansion were met with mixed reception by players, with many feeling they fell below Bethesda's usual standards. What complicates matters further is the development of The Elder Scrolls 6, as well as the potential of a new mainline Fallout game. Both are likely to be of higher priority to Bethesda going forward, meaning any new Starfield is likely to be many years away. More DLC for the original game is possible in the meantime, but the reality is that gamers are likely looking at another decade without another Starfield title on Bethesda's current schedule.
