In a sci-fi game set several hundreds of years into the future, a well-maintained AK47 is the last gun players expect to see. Still, this is a very real case in Starfield, and this assault rifle isn't even the only classic gun people can find across the Settled Systems.

There are a total of four Old Earth weapons in Starfield, and despite essentially being relics of a bygone era, these guns are still capable of putting down any threat the universe throws at Constellation's explorers. These are somewhat hard to find, though there are some ways to make the search a little easier.

Where to Get Old Earth Weapons in Starfield

There's a fair bit of RNG involved in the search for Old Earth guns. Like everything else in Starfield, these guns have a random chance of appearing from almost anywhere, from weapon racks to storage containers and even enemies.

For starters, the best places to look for these weapons are gun stores. Pay a visit to any of these shops when questing or exploring:

  • Centaurian Arsenal - New Atlantis (Jemison)
  • Rowland Arms/Laredo Firearms - Akila City (Akila)
  • Neon Tactical - Neon (Volii Alpha)

Players can expect to find at least one type of Old Earth weapon in any of these shops once they reach level 15 or higher. The stores in Akila City tend to have such weapons in stock more often, though this could just be attributed to good luck.

For a less luck-reliant way of collecting Old Earth guns, here are some guaranteed sources that our team has found so far:

  • Fury - Unique Old Earth Assault Rifle (AK47); sold by Aludra in the Key (Kryx System).
  • Despondent Assassin - Unique Old Earth Hunting Rifle (VSS); complete the Defensive Measures quest on Akila City.
  • XM-2311 - Randomly-rolled Old Earth Pistol (1911); buy a grave drive for the ECS Constant in the First Contact quest.

There are currently no known unique variations of the Old Earth Shotgun (Ithaca 37), but this weapon appears to be fairly common in stores and random loot containers. Some may also be stolen from guards and containers aboard the ECS Constant. This guide will be updated once a unique version is found.

All Old Earth weapons are just as viable as any of the modern firearms in Starfield. However, ammunition may be an issue since they use ammo calibers that are unique to each Old Earth gun archetype. Don't expect to see a bunch of 7.62x39mm bullets lying around in a world full of 7.77m rounds.

Starfield is available now on PC and Xbox Series X/S.
