Several missions in Starfield require the protagonist to find resources and items to craft more valuable items. One of these resources is fiber, a commonly used item crafting invaluable tools for players through Starfield's story and many side missions. Fiber can be found by harvesting planets rich with plant life or by purchasing it from a variety of vendors throughout the galaxy in Starfield. Thankfully, players won't have to wait long before getting their hands on fiber as it is available very early in the game's story.
Where To Harvest Fiber
Thankfully, fiber is a plentiful resource that players can locate early on Jemison in Alpha Centauri. Instead of heading straight to New Atlantis, players should take the opportunity to explore the wilds and mountains of the planet. Even though it appears that players can only land their ship in designated landing areas, they can set a landing target anywhere they want and explore. Use the following steps to land the craft on Jemison and locate fiber:
- With a view of the planet, move the cursor near the Mining Outpost and the Landing Area.
- Look for green areas on the map and select the A button to Set a Landing Target.
- Look for the Mountains or the Forests.
- Place a marker and hold the X button to travel to the location.
- This may require a bit of exploration, but it shouldn't be long before the player locates some Glossy Stickweed or Boreas Root.
- Select the LB button to Scan areas and identify resources and plant life.
- After locating one of the required plants, press the A button to harvest the fiber.
Where To Buy Fiber In Starfield
Players who don't want to explore the galaxy and harvest resources can buy them from vendors instead. Fiber can be challenging to locate in New Atlantis, but one of the most resourceful vendors can be found on Cydonia on Mars in the UC Exchange. Mars is a desolate planet with unwelcoming terrain. However, Cydonia is a community full of stores, bars, and traders.
- Walk past the Broken Spear bar.
- Head to Lower Level 1.
- Take a left and walk past the Enhance and Medical stores. The UC Exchange is the last shop on the left.
- Ask to trade with the vendor and select resources.
- He sells fiber for four credits each.
That's everything a player needs to harvest or buy the crafting material fiber in Starfield. Thankfully, it's a low-cost item, and it's harvested freely in the open world.
Starfield is available now for PC and Xbox Series X/S.
